cruzeluver Posted July 19, 2012 Author #2 Share Posted July 19, 2012 Hi Brenda and Dave! Great to hear from others going on this cruise. I may very well ask questions as we get closer since this will be our first trip to Europe. We too are signed up for the Connections party. Love sailing on Celebrity and seeing Ireland has been on my partner Jim's "bucket list" for a long time. Ryan

WisKnox Posted February 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2013 Same here. Wondering if we should take the cruise tours in Dublin and belfast or taking the Hop On Hop Off bus tour available in each city. Wondering if the bus goes anywhere near the port, or will we have to take a cab to a stop. Thanks
Gfgirl01 Posted March 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2013 We are booked on this cruise following our trans Atlantic crossing on same ship. My husband (51 years married) and I have done Three previous cruises on Holland. I have a balance disability, so must use a rolling walker. Otherwise we are both quite fit for walking tours. Hope to meet all of you in May.
manatees4ever Posted March 19, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2013 My husband and I are on the Infinity "across the pond", from FL to Harwich and then continuing around the British Isles. Looking forward to meeting our fellow passengers. We will be celebrating our anniversary during the first cruise.
chips9996 Posted April 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Hi, we to will be on this cruise. My husband will be celebrating his 60th on the 20th. Here is a couple of cheap travel tip for St Peter Port and Cobh. Cobh: The railway station is directly opposite where the ship docks if you want to go into Cork. I haven't been into Cork, I was put off when someone said 'it's just one more city'. Sorry if it is an injustice. Within the railway station there is a small Titanic/Irish museum. You can take a variety of coach tours with a local company http://www.butlers-buses.com/cobh-shore-excursions.htm I have done one. You meet just outside the dock (a few minutes walk). If you fancy a walking tour http://www.titanic.ie/tours is very interesting and you get to see the town of Cobh. If you want to see what the weather is like first you can book it at the Tourist information office but get there early. The tour picks up outside a hotel that is a 5 minute or so walk for the ship. St Peter Port Guernsey: This can be really cheap. Take a 7 or 7a bus around the Island. There is a flat rate for all journeys no matter what length, of £1. You can hop off the bus and just pay £1 for the next leg. http://hctgroup.org/ct_plus_guernsey/our_routes__2 . This is a list of things to see and do http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g186229-Activities-Guernsey_Channel_Islands.html Check out what you fancy and see if you can get the bus. Before you go or when you return: Harwich railway station is directly off the ship. A walk of about 1 minute. It will be cheaper than a Taxi to/from London. You may have to change at Manningtree but there are only 2 platforms. Going to London it is the other side of the same platform. From London (Liverpool Street) you go through an underpass. Follow the crowd as it is also the exit route. Check out the prices and time table here http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ (Harwich International) Hope this saves you some money. sgtmaj Posted May 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 30, 2013 My wife and I are sailing on the 26 August cruise to the British Isles on the Celebrity Infinity. We are in a quandry about the tours. We want to go to Paris, however, it seems like they drop you off in the square, and then you're on your own. Does anyone have any insight as far as going or getting other tours when you arrive in the different ports? It seems like the cruise ship tours are extremely pricey. Please help if possible. Thanks, and hope to see you on the Infinity, Cabin 1135-Aqua class...Take care...Dee & Bill:
