late check in Venice Ruby Princess

Until what time in the evening are the counters open for check in . The Ruby Princess overnight in venice, and departs next mornig.

We went to the port to check in at around 8 or so at night two weeks ago and checked in with no problem. They told us the gangway would be open all night til the ship leaves at 8am. Just be aware that the area was empty at night and the signage was poor, in addition, it took awhile to get someone to help with luggage, so we carried them up ourselves.
