Clothes for July - cold in Canada?

Recommended Posts

You need to be more specific about where in Canada. Check out the weather for July using a weather site such as weather.com, or the tourist web sites for the cities you'll visit. .

The ports on Canadian cruises are much colder than NYC in the winter, but the temperature differences are somewhat less in the summer. One summer we went to Montreal to escape 95 degree heat in NYC, and had temperatures almost as warm as NYC, and with more humidity. Average highs and lows, Farenheit, in Montreal are 79-59, Halifax 74-55. Quebec City 76-55, Sydney 73-53, Charlottetown 73-56. Nice and comfortable, but not swimming weather. As for the temperature on the water, I think someone commented on that on one of your other threads.

You may want to post this on the RCCL board, which is much more active than this one.

I'm from Montreal and have lived in Atlantic Canada on and off for years. It really depends on where you are in Canada. Halifax and most other coastal Atlantic cities/towns can be on the cooler side because of the breeze that comes in off the ocean (say 70-75 on a normal day with a breeze (probably the same for New England coastal towns - especially Maine). It can also be foggy in the mornings and damp, but usually burns off by 11ish. So you may need a sweatshirt in the mornings and evenings. You may need jeans and a sweatshirt while on the water because the breeze will really pick up and be kinda cool. But on days where there's no morning fog, it can get fairly warm. Lower 80s.

But Montreal and other cities and towns that are more inland can, and usually do, get very hot. As the previous poster said, Montreal is most often incredibly humid and sticky and in the upper 70's and lower 80s but it feels so much hotter due to the humidity. It can get even hotter though. As high as high 90s and lower 100s in heat spells.
