Cherbourg--private tour

Arriving Cherbourg on TA. DW wants to see St Mont Michael. I want to see Utah Beach. Any suggestions on private tour to do both? Open to ideas. Thanks

Do check ship's time in port, some allow only half a day.

 

With an early start & a sail-away around 5pm you'll have time for both, but because you'll not have a lot of time at either place it'll be an expensive waste of a guide and your best bet is to rent a self-drive car.

 

MSM is about 110 miles, around 2 hours.

You'll want 90 mins to 2 hrs there.

Take in Utah on the way back - the beach is pretty featureless but there's an excellent museum (well worth an hour)at La Madeleine, at the eastern end of the beach. You can then drive along the quiet beach road before turning inland to Ste Mere-Eglise, which is about 30 mins (allow at least an hour) from Cherbourg. Excellent airborne museum, also worth an hour, in the centre of Ste Mere-Eglise.

 

A divorce would give you time for more D-Day sights ;):D
