Corkage fee

Hi Everyone

Looking into maybe cruising with Norwegian again next cruise. We were on the Pearl and loved the ship. I have a question ... I am confused. If we bring wine onboard to consume only in our room do we pay a corkage fee ? I assume carry on bags are checked from what I read so do you pay the fee if wine is not taken into the dining room ?

Thanks a bunch.

You pay the corkage fee regardless of where you drink the wine.

During the security screening, before you board the ship, if you have wine with you, that is when you will be charged the corkage fee. If your wine is in your checked luggage, you will get a note asking you to report to the "naughty room" and you will be given the option to pay the fee there. $15 per 750 ml bottle.

Yes, corkage will be assessed before you board if the wine is in your carry-on.

If the wine is in your checked bag, you will most likely get called to the impound room where they open the bag, spot the wine and assess corkage there. This procedure takes time.

Corkage applies no matter where the wine is consumed.
