liberty080208 Posted June 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Hi we are cruising on the 9/30 Explorer voyage and are arriving several dAys early. Would love hotel recommendations near the port. We will be going into the city a couple of days -- we wil have our vehicle. I don't want to stay in NYC. Any advice And recommendations are appreciated. 138east Posted June 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Lorrie - what are your exact dates? What's your budget? Are you parking at the port? Are you driving into the city (why would you do that??) or are you taking public transit? We need more details!
liberty080208 Posted June 24, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2012 We arrive 9-27 and the ship leaves 9-30. I would like to stay $140 max. Per night. We will take public transportation into the city.
138east Posted June 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2012 There's a 3* hotel on Hotwire in Secaucus for $81 for your dates. This is highly likely to be the Shearton Meadowlands. This hotel appears all the time on Hotwire and has an approval rating of 90%. To get to NY you would have to get to Secaucus Junction to take the train or drive to Walmart in Harmon Meadow to park and catch a bus.
flowers44 Posted June 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2012 There are two hotels on Staten Island that offer cruise and park packages with a free shuttle to the pier. One is a Hilton Garden Inn and the other is it's sister property The Hampton Inn and Suites. They are above your high limit but your car can stay there for free during the cruise. The port charges $19 a day to leave your care there so that is $190 for a ten day cruise. We are on the August 30th cruise on the Explorer of the Seas and are staying at the Hampton. They have a breakfast include in their rate along with the 10 days of parking and free shuttle to the port. I don't think the hotels in Secaucus offer the parking while you cruise.
