sands28 Posted July 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2012 We just returned from the 10 night Uniworld's tour Lisbon (3 nights) followed by 7 nights on the Douro Spirit. We were somewhat concerned about this trip due to some of the negative comments found on Cruise Critic. We can confirm that the dining area was noise,l due to a confined space and lack of sound absorbing tiles in the ceiling. However, it resulted in a minor inconvenience. We can also confirm that there were only two table for two in the dining area. Again, this was a minor issues: One table was almost always empty and the second often occupied by crew members. The last issue raised in previous reviews was the presents of only one large circular table for 10. This was always filled. None of these issues are game-breakers. We found all other aspects of the tour and cruise to be rated at 11 (on a rating of 1 (poor and 10 excellent). We did all of the included tours, except for Sinatra, which we book with a ccmpany call Inside Tours. We had a group of 8 in a van with drive-tour guide who was outstanding. The cost was less than the Underworld excursion and was considerable better because we went to places were many of the passenger would have a problem walking up the steep hills and trails. We choice the Douro Spirit to get a french balcony. Our cabin was at the bow of the ship and on the lowest deck. It was great having it open and seeing and hearing the river rush by. We realize that Uniworld is taking this ship out of service next year, but it will be offered by a different tour company. Like This Review?
