Aquarium of Quebec

Recommended Posts

I'll be on a cruise in early October with my dad that overnights in Quebec. I love aquariums and have searched this forum, but cannot find any information on the one in Quebec. Anyone been there and can share their experience, how much time we should plan on spending there and the best way to get there? The ship docks at Pier 30 and looking at the RTCQuebec site I think we can get there by bus, but the maps are confusing. Or would we be better off taking a taxi and if so, how much would the cost be?

Thanks!

Liz

Hi Liz,

I'm afraid I won't be much help, other than to say, "Yes. I've been there!" I drove, so I can't help with transportation. Unfortunately, my most vivid memory is of how HOT is was when I was there! I was watching the walrus demonstration and over in the adjacent pool was a seal (or maybe sea lion) who was just lying around, and every now and then he'd slip into the pool, swim around, jump out, roll around, repeat. I can't tell you how much I wanted to jump in with him!

But anyway :o The aquarium is indoor and outdoor. Pools and tanks. Of course an emphasis on the local critters. Food court. It's high up on the bank of the St Lawrence River. Really pretty. I think I only spent a couple of hours. I had a 5 hour drive ahead of me and wanted to get moving (and it was hot ) It was nice. I don't think it's a full-day Sea World type experience - much more manageable. You like aquariums, so I don't know if that's good or bad. I think I was there 6 years ago when it was new, so things may have changed.

It should be beautiful in October!

Boy, this isn't very helpful. I hope you got something out of my ramblings. As long as you have all day, I'd say go!
