SondraC Posted July 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2012 No, they only deal in U.S. dollars. We just got off the Breeze, and we tried to just have them break a large denomination Euro and they couldn't do that because they don't deal with Euro. While you were on the Breeze, did CCL offer any times that you could exchange currency on the ship? When we sailed the Med on the Dream in 2009 they did this a couple of times during the cruise. right trip Posted July 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Does Carnival cash Euro TC on board?? I mean will they give you Euros back not American cash. Thanks for any help I stopped using Travelers Checks years ago. Many places no longer honor them. I use my ATM debit card. We have been on four European cruises in the past four years with four different cruise lines. I have gotten money using my card on the ship every time. Call your bank and see what they charge. If you decide to do it, give them the dates you will be traveling and the list of countries you will be visiting. My banks requires a visit to their office to set all of this up. When we sailed the Med on the Dream in 2009 they did this a couple of times during the cruise. I did not see this on the Breeze. They do have one of the ATMs that only give out Euros on the ship, but they did point out that they are not a bank and the rates would probably be better elsewhere. What kind of exchange rate did the Dream offer?
mountaincruiser20 Posted July 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Last year on the Magic some days you could exchange at the casino, but much better rates in port. Never had a problem except in Naples, every bank we went to meet us at the door and would send you down the street to another bank. After we made a huge circle I just found an ATM. But shop around everywhere we exchanged at rates posted and they all had different rates.
peanutgirl Posted July 26, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks for the info. I guess I will just pay the 5 dollars each time I use an ATM.
