stephluva Posted July 31, 2012 Author #27 Share Posted July 31, 2012 Thanks for the review. I'm really hooked on the voyager class ships. I'd probably like the freedom class too. Not sure about oasis class -- might be too big. MDR food is generally 3-star (out of 5) for me, with some really good items like the fillet of beef (1st formal night). Did you go to the ice show? That is usually one of the highlights. I've been on Voyager and Explorer, and love them both! I would like to eventually try sailing on the Freedom class as well as Oasis/Allure....while those ships seem very, very big, I think it would be a lot of fun walking around and seeing all the amazing things that you would have never thought they could place on a cruise ship. I feel the same way about the food, there were a few standout items, but all in all, it was ok/good. We did go to the Ice show....it was spectacular to see them doing this show all while the ship was rockin' and rollin'

Shades of Turquoise Posted August 1, 2012 #29 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Before we left for our cruise, we were getting conflicting reports re:Formal nights...were there 2? were there 3? On our cruise, there were 2 formal nights, and one of the nights was named Smart Casual...IMO you couldn't really tell the difference between the "casual" and "smart casual" evenings. The only time you noticed people dressing differently was on Formal nights, where most everyone followed the rules. We definitely noticed what kind of dresses (or lack thereof) the teenage girls were wearing on formal nights. I was not allowed to dress like that (nor would I have ever even thought about it) and if I had a teen daughter, she would NOT be wearing what some of those girls were wearing. But this is just my own personal opinion....there were some teenagers dressed appropriately for all evenings. Thank you again for the helpful information. My daughter and I have had many a fitting-room disagreement over dress purchases. It can be really difficult to find party-type dresses for teens that have the appropriate (in my opinion) amount of "coverage". I often joke that they look more like belts! But this is what all the stores sell and what almost every girl wears to school dances and the like. It can be very frustrating. The fact that it is something you took notice of makes me feel all the stronger about this topic.
micdee Posted August 1, 2012 #30 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Hi, glad you enjoyed your Explorer cruise and thanks for writing a review. We are on the 7 day sailing to Bermuda in September and need your help. We are planning a slot pull on the last sea day at 2pm. Could you please check your compass and see what activities are going on at that time? I know some of the cruisers on our roll call want to participate in the "Walk for Wishes" and I am hoping that the walk isn't scheduled for the same day and time. Thank you. Since we were on the 9-night sailing, we had 2 sea days coming home...I believe on your 7-night sailing, you only have 1 sea day coming home. Our Walk for Wishes was scheduled on Day 8 (1st sea day on the way back), but if they do it on your sailing, it will probably have to be the last sea day. Ours was scheduled at 2pm....if they do it the same way, you might have some conflict amongst your fellow slot-pullers. Hope everything works out for you :)

pixie123 Posted August 2, 2012 #34 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Hello Can you tell us anything about the parking situation at Cape Liberty any ideas to beat the high prices thank you You can try Premiere Parking Ventures. Just put parking near cape liberty cruise port in a search engine and it will show up. The rate is $11.99 a day if you book online, but you may be able to find a coupon code. I live in South Jersey and we are going up by a shuttle service, but my sister and brother in law are coming in from out of state the day before and staying in a hotel and using the parking. She found a code that got her 2 free nights. It was under $100 for nine nights. It is 1.5 miles from the pier and offers a free shuttle to the pier. I think in total, we took 8 home  We happened to come across a glass hurricane souvenier glass while we were at the Casino bar, so we got that as well. At the Island Deck Party, they were selling plastic RCI logo cups that had blinking lights built into the base (took one of those as well LOL). On the second to last sea day, the bar attendants by the main pool were selling frozen drinks in glass margarita cups (those were nice). All souvenier glasses (plastic and glass) have the RCI logo
