Hotel in New Orleans

We are driving to New Orleans for the September 30th Conquest cruise. We need a hotel for the night before - just a place to sleep - don't need to be near tourist areas. We are looking at either the Hampton Inn Metairie or the Homewood Suites Slidell. Any opinions on these?

Welcome aboard!

My wife & I are on the same cruise. We booked Hampton Inn for 2 nights on St. Charles Av. with free parking while on your cruise but no transportion to port. We are driving in also and found that parking is going to cost any where from $12-$35 a day.

This is our plan:

I called the port today and found out that I could drive over and drop off my bags at 9:30-10am at the termial port and then back to hotel (20 to 30 min).

 

I also called RTA and found that the Riverfront streetcars do run all the way to the termial for $1.25 or 3$ on-off all day pass. We can how ride street car and enjoy N.O. and check in and board around 12 to 1pm. Checkout web site below on Hampton Inn N.O.

Try Stay123.com I've used them a couple times, not much more than what it cost to park at the terminal

Did anyone answer your question? We want to stay at this Hampton 1-27-12 before a cruise.Would like comments.

The Hampton Inn in Metairie is ok...it's about 15 miles west of the port. Slidell is about 20 miles northeast of the port...so it depends on where you are driving from.

The Hampton was close and would recommend it.
