Atlantis: A few questions?

Thanks. I will bring some cheap prepackaged snacks with us onto the ship. I just figured that since we've already paid for our food on the ship, that maybe it was an extra cost in port that we could avoid.

Does the water you bring have to be bottled or can you bring a stainless steel water bottle filled with water?

I don't think you'd have a problem with a water bottle... but you could always just dump it out if customs says something.

Small Bottled water is just $1 downtown. $5.50 once you get to Atlantis

You can pick up a couple in Festival Place or just outside the exit.

Just curious if someone has gone recently to Atlantis & wouldn't mind giving a report on how clean it was. Early in this post (2012) people were saying how they neglected to clean the tanks, glass & other animal areas as well as the grounds. Has it changed?

I was there last Thursday off the Carnival Splendor. The entire property was impeccable and not crowded at all as it was in the 70s. I think it is one of the cleanest resorts I have been to. A few of the tanks with fish are showing their age and may be a little cloudy, but they do their best to make it a top resort. We were there for the entire day, and still did not get to the whole resort. Go it is well worth it...

Great question DeepSkyBlue! I was wondering the same thing. I'm planning on going to the water park in mid-March and was hoping the reviews had changed for the better! Thanks for the feed back robertwcook16!

I'm excited now!! :D

Keep in mind that you are going during the height of spring break. It WILL be crowded. I was on the property last week and I didn't see any positive changes. Glass still slimey, leaking in the predator lagoon and areas where the facade was grumbling. You can, of course, look past all this if you are having a good time.

Anyone know if most of the info in the earlier part of the thread is still accurate? Is security still escorting those without a pass straight to the casino?

We are planning on taking my parents who are in their 60s on their first cruise (RC Allure), and the first port is Nassau. My fiance and I loved the Atlantis and I know they'd be blown away by it, considering they have never been to a tropical destination. The time in port is short and my parents are not beach/water people, so I was hoping to just walk around Atlantis and grab lunch but its sounding like that's not feasible. Any suggestions on what kind of day pass we should go with if that is the case? Thanks in advance!

Security is still tight, but you can still go to the casino and marina village.

If you want to see any of the hotel, the least expensive (and still somewhat restrictive) pass is the DIG's aquarium pass at $45 pp.

Since Atlantis is a Fake "tropical destination", why not do something else like a tour of the island, the zoo, art gallery, retreat or any other bahamian experience. Atlantis is a theme park/hotel. Not very cultural.

Scuba Girl....Do we buy the $45 DIGS pass at the hotel or elsewhere?

Available at the hotel - in the casino at the center kiosk.

I don't think they are available any where else.

Majestictoursbahamas carries the aquapark pass, but I don't think they sell the DIGS pass.

It rarely sells out.. but is sometimes restricted due to the number of guests on the property, especially during spring break.

What's the cheapest way to do the Atlantic Aquaadventure these days for 2 adults and 2 kids, ages 10 and 12? We'll be in Nassau next Thurs., 2/13. I used to do the Comfort Suites thing but they want $400 for the night; really no savings from NCL's rates. I'd rather not have to do the cruise's excursion and wait for the bus. Any ideas?

You should be able to purchase them at the front desk.

This time of year, they should be $125 for adults and $80 for kids.

Taxi is $4pp ea. way.

We are looking to go April 24th on a stop with NCL. Can the Aquaventure passes be purchased online and we would NOT have to go through the NCL excursion group?

You might still be able to book them thru Majestictoursbahamas.com - contact them.. they don't advertise.

I wouldn't wait to get them same day, since you are traveling during easter week and the property will be overly crowded and likely not selling additional passes.

Yeah, we didn't realize it was Easter week until about a month ago!! Oh well! I'm sure it will be a mob scene but well worth it to enjoy the warm weather! Thanks for the advice, I'll look them up now. My only concern will be making it back to the ship in time.

so after reading and researching we are going to Atlantis on the 13th of Feb when our ship come into port.

We have booked a room at the Comfort Suites as suggested in previous posts so I hope all goes smooth once we dock.

Quick question, what are the water park hours this time of year and when does it start getting dark?

Trying to plan the day so we can make the most of it.

We dock at 11:00am and leave port at 8:00pm.

All suggestions are welcome

Waterpark opens at 10am and closes as 5pm .. as does the beach and pool.

Sunset is at 6pm.. things will be locked up tight by then .. it's the off season.

Be careful of rush hour traffic on the bridge. It add's about 45 minutes to your travel time.

Rush hour is 7:30am - 9am going over the bridge and 4:30pm - 6:30pm coming back

Thanks for the info,

I guess the plan is to get off the ship as soon as possible, grab a cab to the hotel, get our bracelets and head to the waterpark/aquarium/Dig for the day, leave at 6:00 and back to the ship.

Hopefully we get to port on time and it doesn't take long to get off.

It's our first cruise so not sure what to expect.

ScubaGirl-

We are going to be in Nassau on Monday 2/10. We would like to do Atlantis, but not for the cruise ship prices! Would you recommend taking a taxi to the resort and buying passes there? Where do we purchase them? Or is there a different way to do it that would be better?

Thanks!!

RE: Atlantis day passes;

Do you know (about) what they would be mid August? (Aug 18 to be precise).

Thanks!

At the moment, the prices run from $125 in the early season -$145 for the remainder of the summer months.

You may luck out with your date, as there is a cut off late August when the price goes down ($125) for off season.

Contact majestictoursbahamas.com for details. They don't advertise, but they carry the passes.

So far, we haven't heard that the prices have gone up.. but they usually do so every year.

We will be in Nassau on May 25 from 8 - 5 on the Majesty. I have a group of 5 that are 70, 69, 40, 12 and 9. The 12 and 9 year old really want to do Atlantis and the aquaventure pass. I was expecting it to be too crowded due to Memorial day, but Atlantis and Comfort suites show lots of options in availability. RCCL is only asking $129/$89 for the passes that day which was surprisingly low to me. I will probably go through Majestic though so I can go on my own. Do you think RCCL is only offering a half day pass at that price? Or is all this a sign of smaller crowds than normal for memorial day?

Finally, My 70 year old father will not be riding the slides. If I buy him a beach pass would we be ok having the beach as our spot for the day or will the rest of us have to walk to far to meet up with him on breaks between slides? Should I get him a pool pass just so he can sit at the pools and be closer to us?

I think your father would be better off by the pools. The beach is quite a distance, and not always comfortable for relaxing. (there are also a lot of pesky vendors).

As for the RCCL pass, even if it's a half day, you should have plenty of time and you would be assured to be back on time. Independently, you would have to be careful of getting back on time, and the traffic starts to back up around 4 ish.. so you would need to leave by then anyway. Pools and slides open at 10.

Have fun!
