kimala Posted August 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2012 Does anyone know who Royal Caribean uses for their dive operator in Cozumel? It used to be Sand Dolar and I'm not too impressed with them. Thanks.
cruzbound Posted August 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2012 When we were in Cozumel this past April. RC did not offer a dive excursion due to the problem with Sand Dollar. We had booked with a private dive operator called scuba with Alison so we got to dive still. Would highly recommend you check her out. I think a lot of people were disappointed with RC because if you had booked their dive excursion ahead of the actual cruise they did not contact you to let you know it was not happening which left people scrambling trying to find independent dive operators. Have fun it was great diving there.
kimala Posted August 20, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted August 20, 2012 Thank you. I am going to check out some independants but Hubby is a little worried with the problems theyve had in Cozumel.
cruzinisgood Posted August 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2012 We actually knew about RC canceling the dive excursions. But we were planning on using an independent operator. Allison was not available for us in May so we went with Eagle Ray Divers and thought they were great. You catch a taxi next to the port about $8 and its maybe 10 minutes away. Great mom & pop operation. Would not hesitate using them again.
cruzbound Posted August 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 21, 2012 We also caught a cab right at the port. They have a specific line for people and then you tell them where you want to go and they put you in the cab and tell the driver. We felt completely safe and the driver took us all the way to the boat in the marina. He did not drop us off at the front if the marina it anything. Alison is very responsive and thorough. You should try to contact her and see if she is available. Eagle ray was out second choice if we couldn't get Alison but we did and loved it. We saw barracudas, a nurse shark, turtles and so much more. I was down on one dive with just Alison for 88 minutes. The rest if the group got low on air and went up. Have fun.
