West Bay Public Beach

I would like to hear from anyone that has been to this beach. I am going to be going to Grand Cayman with a fairly large group and we will are looking for a beach to go hang out at for the day. This will be our low cost port day since most of us have done all the expensive things to do on the island.

Ideally we would like to find a public beach with restrooms and some vendors or local establishments that provide drinks and food close by. In addition, we would like the beach to have the availability of transportation to and from the beach. Also, we would really like a beach that has good snorkeling just off shore. I know from looking at the map that this beach is not far from some pretty good snorkeling which extends down a bit from Cemetary Beach.

So, can anyone out there help me? Is this beach a good choice? If it isn't can you point me to a better option on the island?

Thanks!

This section of Seven Mile Beach is at the farthest northern tip if the beach. The slope down into the water can be quite steep and much of the seafloor is covered in small rocks, not pure sand. You would indeed be a reasonable walk from Cemetery Beach and close to Alfresco's beach side restaurant and bar, Heritage Grill (if open), as well as the Fosters supermarket. There a few wooden cabanas (usually occupied all day by liming locals), a few picnic tables near the parking lot and a public restroom. The beach in front of Al Fresco's is less steep and usually has a sandier bottom, plus I think they have a few lounge charges for rent/patron use. Never snorkeled there, so can't advise.
