jboats Posted August 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2012 We had paid a deviation fee as well as an amount for an upgrade. We are now told that direct flight (booked over 4 months ago by the cruise line) wil not allow us to get to the ship on time. Instead of our 9 hr 40 min direct flight, we are being offered two flights, both with layovers. One will take 15 hours and the other 17. Oceania considers this a reasonable accomodation. This is our first cruise. Is there any recourse for this?
MrCruzeaddict Posted August 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2012 You might also post this on the CRUISE AIR forum. There are experienced people there.. Joe<-----Oasis in 16 days! :D
willysgrandma Posted September 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2012 You should fly in at least a day before your cruise and stay overnight in a hotel. This is one of the reasons why. If flights are changed or especially if you have to take a connecting flight it's well worth the cost of a hotel to ensure you will get to the ship on time. Unfortunately, this is a lesson to learn to book your own flights. A good travel agent could have found better flights.

Go online and do research into other flights that might suit you better, then present your findings as alternatives to the Cruise Line. Most of the time you will be moved over to the new flight at no cost, in light of your having already been changed once; but even if a surcharge were to be involved, it would be YOUR CHOICE as to whether or not you wanted to pay more for the better schedule. Good Luck! :D

Good Luck! :D If your personal schedule allows it, do go a day early. You could keep the 9 hr 40 min flight, get some rest, slide into vacation mode, arrive at the ship refreshed on departure day....and have peace of mind that if you meet some delays along the way, you'll still reach the cruise in time.
