Caribbean Princess questions

We are 2 couples looking at the Caribbean Princess Southern Caribbean itinerary for next March (we like the days at sea and we haven't been to either Curacao or Aruba).

We are looking to book two category BA balcony cabins on Caribe deck (hopefully next to each other). One of our party is mobility challenged, uses a scooter for going any appreciable distance (uses a cane for very short distances) and could use a handicap cabin.

My questions are:

How are the BA Caribe handicap and regular cabins (will the handicap cabin have room to park/store the scooter)???

If we have 2 balcony cabins next to each other will we be able to have the balcony dividers opened/unlocked so we can sociallize and access both cabin balconies?

Does anyone have experience in bringing their personally owned scooter onboard, is charging the scooter an issue, or do we have to rent a scooter thru Princess?

The CB is a very large ship. How is navigating the ship via scooter and are there any areas that a scooter cannot go?

Others can answer most of your questions far better than I can. Standard cabin doors cannot accommodate most scooters and you cannot leave it in the hallway. So, it sounds as though your friends will have to book an HC cabin. It'll be much larger, have a larger door, and plenty of storage for the scooter. The bathroom is large with a larger doorway and an open shower with a shower seat. The negative is that because there is no lip between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, it can get wet. There's a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor.

As long as the two cabins start with the same number, you should be able to open the door between balconies. The ones that can't be opened are those on either side of a fire wall/door which you can see on the deck map as a door in the hallway.

Actually, the drain is not in the middle of the bathroom floor. The drain surrounds the entire shower area and the whole bathroom no longer gets wet the way it did in the old days.

Anyone I know who has used a scooter has brought their own on board. Don't know how they recharge, but I've never heard complaints about doing it. And those scooters go everywhere. Even places you don't want to see them. And they sometimes run over people.

The regular (not handicaped) cabin doors can handle a 21" wide scooter. To charge it, just bring a long extention cord so you can park the scooter somewhere where you won't trip on it and it can reach the plug on the dresser.

Even if you rent from a Princess authorized service, you would have to charge it the same way at night. Bring your own if you can. You can also get information from the Princess Accessibility Dept.
