Capri on your own in an afternoon

Is it easy to arrange your own tours for Capri from Sorrento and do it in an afternoon ?

 

The Ship tours are ALL DAY which really leaves no time in Sorrento.

 

Any ideas ?

Would go to Capri in the morning and see the town in the afternoon, as the water can become rough in late afternoon ( getting back to Sorrento can become a problem).. Here are 2 sites for capri that will give you some good info..Second one has timetables of the hydrofoil

We were there last year. Our cruise ship docked right at the hydrofoil place where you catch your ride to Capri. Wish we hadn't done the tour with the ship. There are two villages on Capri- Capri and Anna Capri. Anna is at the top of the hill and is accessable by funicular. Fell in love with the island. Do it!

Sorrento is a nice city but is just inundated with tourists! If you really want to spend some time there, then by all means, enjoy a quick visit of Capri but call Capritime Tours (www.capritime.com) b/c they can help you make the most of your time on the island. REALLY recommend a boat tour around the island. Rebecca took us on the boat and it was such a memorable trip, in fact I'd say the highlight!
