Anyone use this company lately for transportation and/or tours. We uses them several years ago and are looking for transportation from San Jose airport to Marriott in Herradura (?) and then to port in Caldera for cruise. Any other recommendations for transportation?

We have not used Coach Costa Rica, but do want to highly recommend Odyssey tours. We used them on our last trip to Costa Rica. They were prompt replying to our emails and arranged stops on that we were interested in. On the days of the transfers they were on time and very professional. You can check them out on Cruise Critic http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1035210&page=3 . You can also check them out on TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g309287-d1490834-Reviews-Odyssey_Day_Tours-Puntarenas_Province_of_Puntarenas.html

Earlier this year, my family and I needed to travel from Caldera to San Jose after our cruise ended in Caldera. Alvaro & Diego Bros. had been recommended to us as a dependable company to drive us to the San Jose Airport. They were really terrific. They picked us up exactly when they said they would, they helped us with our luggage, spoke perfect English, provided a clean and air conditioned van, and answered the many questions we had about the country. It was a truly positive experience and so I would recommend them to anyone traveling within Costa Rica.

Just used them for transfer from Caldera to the Xandari, our hotel outside San Jose after our Windstar Cruise( 1/12/13). Juan Carlos picked up the four of us at the pier(port authorities were controlling the flow of vehicles to the pier side and so the ship's tour busses came in first). We had a nice, comfortable van for the 1 1/2 hour drive which is much nicer than when we did it in '07 since there is a new highway. He gave us some interesting information during the drive and then took us on a detour to the coffee factory which was quite nice. We were able to buy the wonderful Tres Generaciones Coffee at a great price and the planation is lovely. Highly recommend them.

Used Coach CR in early 2010 and totally pleased. We'll be back in CR later this year, and we plan to contact them again.

At that time, they were the only tour guides with permission to actually drive onto the docks where the sailing cruise ships were. Otherwise, passengers had a long walk, dragging their bags. I don't know if sailing cruise ships (Windstar and Star Clippers ships) are at same dock as the megaships, but you should ask any tour operator you consider about getting dropped AT your ship vs at the entry to the dock area.
