Seeing Progreso

Hi, We took a great cruise with friends on the Carnival Elation , with stops at Progreso and Cozumel. We were not sure what to do at these ports, so we did a little advance planning and were very glad we did. If you are cruising and stop at Progreso, try the following excursion: Lawsons Original Yucatan Excursions . You book it yourself, not through the cruise desk, so the price is very reasonable! We loved it! It's easy to find on the Internet and a great deal for those who don't want to climb on a bus with a bunch of other tourists. Ralf picked up the 8 of us at the bus station, and took us on the greatest excursion. We could choose where we wanted (and didn't want to go). We had a great tour of Merida, with stops for sherbet and tacos at a real taco stand, not a tourist trap. Ralf knows his local history and it was so relaxing to travel with him. We finished our day with drinks at a beautiful restored hacienda. We couldn't have asked for more. The van was stocked with cold drinks and had exceptionally good air-conditioning. I have to honestly say, that having Ralf pick us up and show us around, was a good as having a family member waiting there for us. You can't miss with this customed excursion.!
