Funcouple Posted November 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2012 Any opinions on which Mayan Ruin excursion would be the best pick to choose from? We are in our mid 40's and moderately active. Quirigua Ruins (available out of Port Santo Tomas, Guatemala) -or- Lamanai Ruins (available out of Belize City, Belize)
JimAOk1945 Posted November 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Last December my wife and I were on Mariner of the Seas round trip from Galveston, TX. We took the ship sponsored excursion to the Lamanai Mayan Ruins. It was great! It was out in the jungle so it seemed more like an adventure than seeing Chichen Itza or Uxmal which seems so "touristy." If you're interested, you might like to take a look at my wife's pictures. She posted highlights of our excursion which includes some pictures of the boat ride to the ruins and the wildlife we saw. The link below will take you there. It's a slide show which plays by itself but you can also click through it if you prefer. http://nancysoasis.com/belize/belize.html Happy Sailing!
