Carnival Victory Review Nov 4-11 2012

Tuesday would be the only day at sea and the first formal night. I did not take as many pictures as I would have liked too as I left the camera at home. I did take 200 on my iphone. I did take 900 pictures when we did this cruise last year.

Wednesday and Barbados. This is our least favorite port on the trip. We do not care for Bridgetown, it is too big and does not have the Caribbean feel of the other ports, just my opinion. We decided to do Harrison's Cave.

Here are a few pic, it is an expensice excursion, but worth it. Unlike caves here in the US, it is not cold underground.

There are several places along the route underground that they allow you out of the tram to take pictures.

An interesting thing happens in Barbados, people begin and end the cruise here just like they do in San Juan.

If you are looking to purchase booze here in the cruise terminal, the smaller shop has the better prices, usually by 50 cents per bottle.

Also free WIFI in the Cruise Terminal if you need to check emails or just need a quick internet fix.

 

Also this was the only port that I managed to get a stamp in my passport.

Other than the tour to the cave, we did not leave the cruise terminal area this trip. Just did not feel like going downtown and fighting the madness.

Thursday would be St Lucia. I had been wanting to see the Pitons. last year we did a tour that took us to a Plantation Style home, Caribelle Batik and the rum factory. This year we decided to do the Catamaran Cruise to the Pitons. So glad that we did, simply the best excursion this trip that we did. Snacks and drinks are included, and after the swimming, Rum Punch.

Really? That seems really odd that they have people starting and ending their cruise at different times during the cruise! I am going on this itinerary at the end of June but on the Valor.

So sorry for the delay, I have been sick and working as well, and just paid off the Jan 28th cruise on the Carnival Imagination, needed a quick 4 day get away.

I think that this go around that St Lucia was our favorite port.

St Lucia is also the second formal night of the cruise.

Friday: St Kitts, it's a nice port area, Port Zante, to walk and shop around in. Please be aware that there are little to no consumer protection/trademark laws in St Kitts, please pay attention to the shopping talks and the stores to avoid in this port.

We booked the same excursion that we did last year, St Kitts Highlights with Brimstone Hill Fortress. It includes a visit to Romney Manor and the fortress and some of the Island Highlights.

(took a part time job to pad the cruise funds, next cruise is Jan 28 on the Carnival Imagination, quick 4 day Key West/Cozumel cruise)

 

I was on that same exact sailing last January. It's a decent cruise and priced fairly, but the itinerary's port times aren't the best. It's a long haul down to Cozumel, though (and pretty bumpy on our sailing), which explains the early departure from Key West and late-ish arrival at Cozumel.
