R&K in NC Posted May 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2005 I have sailed twice, my husband and our friends have sailed once. The first cruise was with Carnival Jubilee and the second with everyone was on Nordic Empress. We have now booked our next cruise on Carnival Glory. We wanted to go on one of the larger ships that was parked beside us in Cozumel. I understand the two above was smaller and older ships. When comparing the two past cruises, I enjoyed Carnival much more. The entertainment was better and the clubs were better on Carnival. I felt like there was nothing to do in most areas on the NE. We actually went to bed much earlier than we do at home. The clubs were almost empty and one played such slow music I thought that I would fall asleep. I am in my 30's so I am not a youngster for the loud rock. I was not into the rock wall or I not much about ice skating so those things don't matter. The one thing I liked was the Superbowl party on the NE. Don't get me wrong I had a wonderful time on both. I just enjoy the cruises and I am not one that has to be pampered at every corner. I just like good service and relaxation. My questions is did we go to large? I just could not see paying the extra for RCCL. It seems like people are saying the interior is loud and the ship is broke up. We are also staying on the main deck in balconies (our first). tonygodwin Posted May 31, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2005 R&K...never fear...you have made a good decision. Just got back from a May 7 cruise on the Glory and it was GREAT! We stayed in a balcony room on the main. It was very nice. You will learn the ship fairly quickly and know how to get around. The nightlife is lively and entertaining. You will face a few lines at breakfast and lunch, but otherwise it doesn't feel crowded. Take it from a fellow Wake Co. resident...you will have a very enjoyable cruise.
BEEZALAR Posted May 31, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2005 We just got back on May 14 and loved the ship. Yes it is very large compared to the others Fantasy ships I've been on. Wish I had worked out alittle bit more on my treadmill before going and would advise everyone to get in shape. The first days my legs were feeling it big time. I don't think it was as bad as some say to find your way around. Use the promanode deck or a sleeping room deck to go from one end to the other and you won't run into any deadends. We usually use the first day to expore and that helps. Also if you have alot of people with you use walki talkies to find each other it is a very large ship.............Trisha

Decks 5 and 9 go all the way accross. If you remember that, it will be fine. They have small foldojut deck plans at the Purser's Desk, I carried mine everywhere. IMHO, the ship felt very crowded, the pools were too small for the number of people and on sea days the lines were long, way too long for me. I do not think the ship is too large at 110 GRT but it is for the number of pax on it. I always felt hemmed in. I have been on larger ships but never really noticed the crowds as I did on Glory. Spirit class does not have this problem, or so I am told by the Carnival fans on this board.
coasterwiggs Posted May 31, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2005 Have you considered the Spirit class of Carnival ships? They may be the right choice for you, since they are the in between size.
