terryde Posted May 31, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2005 Just went cave tubing May 24 and it was great! Went through Yhony Rosado - you pay $45 each after you return to the pier - they are there to greet you as soon as you get off the ship, with your name on a card. (We went to the lounge where the other cave tubing groups were meeting and when they called the first group, we went to the tenders with them). We had 7 in our group, the carnival group had 95! The entire day was great - the guide (Timmy - he is terrific!) talked as he gave us a tour of Belize city, talked as he drove out to the site, talked as we hiked through the rain forest, talked as we tubed. Water temp is great, didn't need bug spray yet, but did need sunscreen for part of it. NO SNAKES! Just saw a few birds and tiny fish. We got back to the pier 2 hours early and shopped - the stands outside of Tourism Village will haggle on price - but did pay a good price for alcohol in Tourism village. (Frangelico - $16). Also had a few local beers (Belikan and Lighthouse) at the Wet Lizard, a bar upstairs at the pier. Others were eating good looking food. The only food we ate were Banana chips for $1 US from a guy on the street - delicious! Everyone else liked the food there. Will try to write more later or answer ques. Since we were on the Glory, will also write sep. about Key West, Cozumel, Progreso (It is a shame they are quitting that port!) and the ship in gen. terryde Posted June 3, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted June 3, 2005 Yes, there is a website, and if you email Yhony, he replies quickly. www.cave-tubing.com You can book the trip in advance without a deposit, and he only asks you to pay AFTER you return to the pier. That way you are covered if weather or anything else prevents you from going there. I did read on another post that someone else liked their trip with this company, but were not happy that they chose the extra lunch - it seems they were told $5 each and it ended up to be $10 each, and they saw the price posted as $5. Everywhere they say this meal is $5, and you can go right back to the dock and eat whatever food you like - seafood, mexican, etc. at a reasonable price. So, we ended up skipping it - we had snacks in our backpacks and we were back at the pier in plenty of time to go to the ship for lunch, if we wanted to. Our guide also told me they would be happy to arrange snorkeling trips, trips to ruins (Lamanai or altun Ha) or anywhere if you contacted them. We will do that next time and expect to get a fair price from them.
