Dream or Liberty

We plan on sailing in April 2013. We have sailed the Liberty 5 times with the last time being April 2012 after the changes. We like this ship. I also would like to sail on the Dream or the new Breeze. I have been reading several reviews and they scare me away from Dream or Breeze. We like to keep to ourselves, don't care about many comedy shows. We may take in a production show and we like the casual dining, as I dress up all week, for work. I would like opinion of those of you who have cruised on the larger ships. Liberty vs Dream or Breeze? Lines for eating, getting on and off the ship and crowd levels. I really appreciate your help with this.

We went on the Dream with our kids,, and loved all the kids areas. We just came back from the Liberty .. just the two of us. We loved the Liberty. Not as many people and everything was terrific.

I would try something new, if I were you. But just know it will feel more crowded than the Liberty.

I really enjoyed the Dream and the Magic. The crowds are not that bad. Never really had a problem with any overcrowding or any thing you hear about regarding the larger ships. We are set to sail on the Breeze, which is the same class as the other two. I don't recall that much of a difference when boarding or getting off either ship. I guess it is just individual preference. Everyone has a different experience.

We have sailed on the Dream twice and also on the Valor which is Liberty's sister ship. I honestly could tell no difference between the crowds on the Valor and the Dream. I never saw large crowds on the Dream. Now I should mention that we always make a point to be at the buffet at lower traffic times on all ships. I will also say that my in-laws joined us on our last Dream cruise. They have been on like 30-40 cruises on several different lines. It had been years since they had tried Carnival and they were very leery of a big ship. They absolutely loved the Dream. So much so that they have booked the Breeze with us in April. I say try something new. You never know if you like something unless you try it for yourself and not rely on others' opinions.

The Dream did not feel crowded at all in 2 cruises on her. I've been on 2 of Liberty's sister ships, and those felt a little more crowded than Dream, and most definitely had longer buffet lines. The Dream has a few more eating options, which helps scatter the crowds, and the Dream has more public space to handle the extra pasengers. My last time on the Dream, I could always find a deck chair. Maybe not if you have an exact spot in mind, but anyone could find one close to where they would want to be. If I were leaving for even just 30 minutes, I would take my stuff with me, because I knew that I'd find another chair when I was ready to come back. Liberty would probably be about the same. I'm just pointing out that you can't believe all the bad things you hear. The Dream is like the kid in school that everyone enjoyed picking on, but was actually a really great kid, for those that gave him a fair chance.

Liberty does have more of the extra 0.2 things that Dream didn't get, if that means anything to you. That means very little to me and many others, as not everyone is a fan of the 0.2 stuff. But some people really like it. The main difference between the 2 ships is different burgers (Guys) on Liberty and more bars on Liberty.

Oh, and as far as embarkation in Port Canveral for the Dream goes, it is about as smooth as can be. My first time on the Dream, we were not platinum, but were still on the ship extremely quickly. The check-in line took maybe 10-15 minutes. Then, we were sitting for maybe 10 minutes before our zone was called to get on the ship. Faster than any other port I've sailed out of. We got to the port around 10:45.

We have sailed about 10x on Conquest and we do like it.

did our first one on Dream this past October and thought that was fine as well.

Didnt see the crowds on Dream that people complain about or experience the infamous smell.

I'm one of the odd ones, didn't like Liberty at all, too gawdy and crowded. Dream has a totally different layout. Crowded at times, of course.

Those that say things about the smell are far overstated and isolated incidents. Most ships have some sort of smell from time to time. Just because the odor is foreign to a person, doesn't mean it's raw sewerage, though they say it is.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the feeedback! I have to agree the Liberty was crowded when we went. It did have the 2.0 upgrades and that doesn't really matter to us. I think we will try the Dream or Breeze. Love the itinerary on the Dream, we love Mahogany Bay, but, love the look of the Breeze. We have sailed Princess x5 and Royal Caribbean x4. We like Princess as well and could consdider it as well. [/i] :D

I haven't cruised either one, HOWEVER, based on the recent reviews, I would pick the Liberty in a heatbeat!!!!!!:D:D No crowds, and if you read the recent picture reviews, you can't lose!!!! The Dream seems to have a lot of compaints of lines, smells, etc. AND the Dream doesn't have Guys Burgers!!!! We all need a Guys Burger in our life. :D:D Let us know what you decide!!!! Good Luck!!!!

Was recently on the Liberty and we loved it! I know the Liberty does a different itinerary every week, so you might want to look at that. Have never been on the Dream or Breeze but feel that the Conquest class is about as big as we want to go ..... much prefer the Spirit class.

I was on the Dream in mid-December, and I didn't care for it. The ship itself is beautiful, however, the dining in the MDR was painfully slow for both breakfast & dinner - we could never find available chairs on Sea Days, they were all saved by 9:00 am every morning - You mentioned that you don't care for the comedy club, good thing, because you won't be able to get a seat there either, and yes, I showed up early and waited in the line that stretched all the way to the casino and the line that stretched down 3 stairwells, and still couldn't find a sear. The only happy employee we encountered on our trip was our room steward! I have never sailed the Liberty, but have been on the Ecstasy, the Fascination, and the Inspiration, and enjoyed them much better. Perhaps I just don't like the "megaships" -
