Best Western Pelican in FLL?

I posted this on the Princess forum also. Just wondering if anyone has stayed here, and how far from the port is it?

Best Western Pelican Beach is about 15 minutes north of Port Everglades. The new tower is spectacular, very beautiful and unique! If you don't have a car though there isn't anything within walking distance, but there are many shops and restaurants within a 5 minute cab ride.

Hey Trent was it expensive. We will be staying for 1 night in FT lauderdale before our cruise the next day.

The BW Pelican resort is beautiful...and it's really not that far from the "action" in FLL. However, they do require a 2-night minimum stay on weekends, and a regular room (not a suite) runs $224/night with the AAA discount in the spring. Hope that helps somewhat! We were thinking of staying there for 2 nights, but I got the Marriott BeachPlace Towers for the same price, but it's closer to everything we want to visit.
