aggieastrosfan Posted April 17, 2013 #26 Share Posted April 17, 2013 My 50,000 points are worth $500 if I apply them to deposit or other pre-cruise payments. If you save them to apply to your final payment (assuming your final payment is at least $1500), they'll be worth $750.
aggieastrosfan Posted April 17, 2013 #27 Share Posted April 17, 2013 So, if I booked 3 cabins and was charged for deposits I want to try to get my charges to $1500. I assume I should then charge toward the balance so I arrive at the $1500? Can I do this online or do I need to call Carnival? Thanks so much for this information. I never knew that you got the most for your rewards with t$1500. Only if the $1500 is all in one transaction. If it's three separate bookings, don't they usually charge the deposits separately? You need to find a way to get them all in one transaction, and I'm not sure that's possible on three separate bookings.
MicksMom Posted April 17, 2013 #28 Share Posted April 17, 2013 We do as others have said, charge everything including insurance, cells, elect, etc & pay it off every month. After 21 months, I just applied 100,000 points for $1500 credit towards our most recent cruise.
cv322 Posted April 17, 2013 #29 Share Posted April 17, 2013 I use my Carnival MC for booking & paying for my cruises, & then for my S&S account while onboard. And I always redeem my points for OBC on the upcoming cruise. It's like a revolving door for me lol. ;)
sherryweb Posted May 16, 2014 #30 Share Posted May 16, 2014 So would this work on two Carnival transactions that total $1500? I just paid a $500 deposit. Wish I would have known about the $1500, I would have upped the deposit. Sherryweb
<3_2_Cruise Posted May 16, 2014 #31 Share Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) We pay everything we can with our Carnival MC and are hoarding points for a cruise to Alaska. Edited May 16, 2014 by <3_2_Cruise
Qchell Posted September 2, 2014 #32 Share Posted September 2, 2014 Has anyone used purchase bar credit with their points and then were able to apply the bar credits to the Cheers Program? Or do you have to use the general OBC credits for the Cheers Program? I ask as the bar credits are actually cheaper points wise than the general one. Thanks! jmcathome Posted September 3, 2014 #33 Share Posted September 3, 2014 10000 points equals 100 dollars . the first 7500 points equals 50 dollars after that each 500 points equals 100 dollars.i usually just use them to help pay for the cruise. wiskt Posted September 10, 2014 #34 Share Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) I have a Carnival MasterCard as well. I save up accumulated points and only redeem for statement credits off my Carnival purchases which gives you the best point/cash exchange ratio. 5,000 = $50 statement credit 10,000 = $100 statement credit 15,000 = $150 statement credit 20,000 = $200 statement credit and so on When on-board I use my Carnival card on my sail & sign for everything. Excursions, Bingo, sou-vies, & CASINO. Whats nice is the "Cash Charge to your sail & sign goes through as a purchase not a cash advance. I've even taken out a couple hundred extra onto my players account at the beginning and did a "cash out' on the last day. It leaves the charge to go through for the points. What that also reflects to the PLAYER's CLUB is you are a "SPENDER" keeping your account active. I'm always receiving CASINO Player's club special offers and on many cruises free drinks while playing in the casino. I never pre-pay or apply any payments towards by final bill. I allow the full charge to go through and receive the DOUBLE POINTS for the full amount. Once the charge has been applied to your credit card statement you get your double point credit. That charge will be available for redemption up to 180 days after it is applied. So you can do a partial redemption or full redemption off it. I will always redeem towards my oldest CARNIVAL purchase first (which would probably be my cruise deposit or booking) keeping the others listed for a later redemption as soon as I have enough points. I've accumulated redemptions totaling over $2,000 in the past 8 years, but I also have monthly large purchases to do it. :) Edited September 10, 2014 by wiskt
