Most annoying thing?

Well when it extra windy outside...we sit inside the lido buffet area...same explanation applies...they tables are there to be used...you could just as easily cart your food out to the tables by the aft pool...if there are plenty out there.

There are many places on the ship that have tables, you can just easily go there and make room for people who want to eat. That is the first and foremost purpose of the tables inside the buffet. Why would you think that people who want a place to eat would want to go to the aft pool on a extra windy day because you want the inside buffet table to play cards and games. In my mind that is selfish and inconsiderate...

No they're not hard to shut at all. They pretty much do it themselves which is why they slam. The rude, inconsiderate people just let it go and WHAM! If you don't want to disturb people, then hang on to it as it closes. I much prefer the sliding doors on Celebrity (except for when people leave them in the open position and it howls throughout the hallway).

I'd go even further and point out that they're very tightly sprung, plus with the slight roll of the ship combined with the wind and the differential air pressure inside vs. outside, an open door can easily rip itself from your hands and slam shut.

I am always cognizant of trying not to let the balcony door slam. But sometimes it just happens (especially if you walk out to the balcony with a drink in one hand and tour book in the other). I agree that 20 times in an hour is excessive . Five in an hour would be excessive. Three in one night might just be heavy winds and oily fingers.

I think its selfish and inconsiderate that someone expects my family to pick up and move from a table that we have been sitting and enjoying time together as a family because they dont want to go find another one. I paid my cruise fare and have a right to sit at a table and relax or play cards or read a book. Its a vacation.

I know "I paid my money & I'm can do whatever I want and I don't care who else it might affect"....everyone else did the same and they are on vacation the same as you, there are numerous places onboard that have tables (next to windows) that you can play and not interfere with people trying to eat. Have you tried playing cards in the main dining room????

It is a vacation for other people also, go find another place to play your games, the purpose of the tables in the buffet are for eating, I can't comprehend just how inconsiderate you are. Also, I was wondering when you were going to play "I paid my cruise fare" card. And your next justification will be???

That until they put signs up in the Lido buffet that the tables are only for eating and that as soon as your done you must leave...I will play cards at a table if I want to. And no I havent played cards in the MDR...but they generally shut the doors in between services so there you go. what right do you have to tell me where I can and can not sit.

With your attitude, I hope we are never on the same ship. I'm pretty sure that "game tables" are not the only demands you make.

Okay guys - take a breath. Yes, it is your holiday to spend time as a family and you paid for it and can do whoever you want and where you choose to play is your business, AND yes there are other places to play - one of the best being the Atrium Bar area - the 5th deck seats by the windows etc. Why not consider others instead of ragging on those who have other opinions - I PERSONALLY like the 5th deck chairs by the Casino as there is always so much going on and people watching is awesome. But if you choose to play and occupy a table for an extended period of time in the LIDO dining area during the lunch hour you are going to have people who will rag on you. And please poster, respect both sides and don't insult either one of them - THEY BOTH PAID THE SAME AMOUNT FOR THEIR VACATION

After reading through this thread, the vast majority of the complaints seem to come down to consideration.

Not slamming doors, being sure your children understand what is acceptable and what isn't, leaving balcony lights on, not hogging chairs, not holding entire rows for shows, not being more aware of others that may be sleeping in or may have an earlier bed time than you, using the tongs at the buffet and standing in walkways instead of out of the way.. just to name a few.

Being considerate to others doesn't necessarily mean you have to be inconvenienced. Personally I get a good feeling knowing I am being considerate to those around me and hope that consideration will be returned. I don't have to hold doors for people, but I always do. I don't have to let elderly folks in front of me in lines, but I choose to.

Does someone have to move their card game from an eating area when it starts filling up with people eating? No. Though wouldn't it be considerate of that person to move the game else where so that someone else won't have to carry a tray of food around looking for a seat?

If you know you are terrified of heights and won't move to the back of an atrium elevator, would it really being putting you out to walk 50 feet to a normal elevator or stairs? Again, you don't have to, but wouldn't it be the considerate thing you would want others to provide to you in different circumstances?

Yes, it is *your* vacation, but it is mine too, and every one else's on the ship also. We all paid good money to be there and not one person's rights tramples another, but if we all put a little thought to our neighbors around us for the duration of the cruise, wouldn't we all be happier and maybe not so inconvenienced after all?

Perhaps Carnival should put some basic thoughts on being considerate to your neighbors on a pamphlet in each room. Just some basic guidelines that to some people, don't seem to be basic. Supposedly Carnival reads these boards, if so, I hope they are considerate to us and do something about that blaring music on the Lido Deck! :-D

During the Southern Caribbean cruise we took out of San Juan, our cabin was on one of the upper decks, and there was a group of young people (teens probably) running up and down the halls during late hours, as if they were trying to intentionally wake up sleeping guests..... this was done after 11pm for a good 20 minutes.

I agree with you probably 90% worth. But then another way to look at it, is that maybe when people are on vacation they could ease up a bit and not be annoyed at all the little things people in society do. You may get up to 5% of people (and I'm sure that would be a large number) who, in some people's minds, inconsiderately utilize the buffet tables for other things. That still leaves 95% of the tables free for eating. How much effort would it take not to get annoyed and just say excuse me to get a group of loiterers to move and let you through or those that do not want to push back far enough in the elevator.

You are on a ship of over 3000 strangers that have different views, cultures, agendas, thoughts and raised completely different.

So yes consideration goes a very long way and makes most feel good, but tolerance can do the same.

What if you are Disabled and cannot use steps but are also terrified while using the glass elevator? More non-disabled people should use the steps, leaving space for those who need them to use elevators without crowding!

"Terrified" while using the glass elevators ... DON"T use them. You do have another choice.:confused:

I believe that poster used disabled in their posts. A lot of people with mobility issues choose to get a cabin in a central location and therefore would use the closest elevator (center of ship = glass ones). Walking to an alternate may not be an option for them.

However, since most mobility issues and age are usually quite apparent (and I did say usually). I would truly hope that these people that are annoyed by this would have some compassion and realize this. However, something like a heart condition may not be as apparent, so again a little tolerance can go a long way.

Seriously - you honestly think that they need to put a sign up to inform you that it is an eating establishment and not a hanging out establishment so you can play cards? It is called "common sense". You are exactly the type of cruiser I can't stand because you think you are self entitled to do what you want and not be courteous to other passengers who are standing there with a tray of food with no place to sit because you're taking up space playing cards. There are tons of places on the ship to go play cards. You probably think it's also okay to save seats in the main show theater and by the pool deck I bet.

Seat saving is rude. The tables on Lido are there to be used, to have a drink, read a book, eat, or just relax and enjoy your family. I refuse to be expected to move because someone came to have lunch and all the tables were already full. Maybe you should have come earlier. It would be no different if people sat chatting for awhile after they finished eating at a table. And like I said for the most part we sit out by the pool at a table, but if its super windy we go inside, play cards have a snack or a drink. pardon me for not jumping up when someone walks by me with food and offering them the table.

I think you are just a phony that is just here trying to stir up trouble. If that is not the case and you are for real. The main difference between you and most other people on this board is, we are polite, considerate of others & would actually get up to let you have a table to eat at.

I do agree that countrygirl (or anyone) should move/offer up their table if they are not eating. It's just common sense, ... and the right thing to do, but I do believe the ones outside at the pool are fair game for whatever you want to do.
