Connecting Doors Between Cabins

We have two rooms booked for our upcoming cruise on the Breeze with connecting doors between the rooms. When you board the ship can these be unlocked by ourselves or do I need the room steward to do it. We are sharing two rooms with our kids and want to leave the doors open most of the time.
