rkmom Posted June 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2005 Hi! I have been reading these awesome :) boards for a couple of months and bookmarking posts that seemed useful so that I could come back and read them when my little ones weren't climbing all over me or I wasn't in a rush. And then my computer went haywire  and I had to restore it to the factory settings losing all the data such as bookmarks. So, all those great pages with the wonderful advice are no longer stored for me. I was just wondering if any of you have favorite posts that you recommend. I know I had some about packing, one thing you wish you'd packed, best thing you ever did on a cruise, next time I'll know better than to . . ., don't miss..., saving $ tips, romantic things to do, secret hints, etc. I will search for some of those terms, but if any of you are like me and bookmarked some of those helpful links, would you mind listing a few? Thanks so much--there is such a wealth of advice here and such helpful people! Kim 30 days til we cruise!

sea_u_onboard Posted June 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2005 I finally got smart after our last crash - not that I'm implying that anyone isn't smart. I started a private yahoo group that only my husband and I can access. When I want to save a link I log in and I save it to the Links file in the group. I know it's a lot of work - but we lost A LOT of links this last time and I haven't put a dent in rebuilding it. When I get on I log into my group. When I want to add a link I add it to Internet Explorer but I also copy and paste it into the yahoo group. It will save me a lot of time to restore the system next time. What would be REALLY smart of Internet Explorer is the allow users to have an account that when they save their links they can access them from any computer - that way if the computer crashes - so what - the links will still be there. I would even be willing to pay for that service. Hummmm . Maybe I just gave someone a great idea.

I thought i'd lost it when we had to replace the computer but low and behold all those links were still there.

Wennfred Posted June 4, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2005 Now that you are rebuilding your favorites again, you can always save your bookmark file onto a floppy disk so you can replace it with a new restore later.

rkmom Posted June 5, 2005 Author #14 Share Posted June 5, 2005 Thank you all for the links and for the ideas about saving the bookmark info for next time. Maybe I can be smarter and not lose it all if it should happen again. Oh, and I will be on the Miracle 7/3. I guess that would help for more specific sites and posts about ports, etc. Sorry! what about specific posts on CC that have been helpful to you? Thanks again! rkmom Posted June 6, 2005 Author #17 Share Posted June 6, 2005 I don't want people to think I wanted info on other sites or giving "business" to them. I love cruise critic, and that is what I really meant: posts from cruise critic about the specific ship's secrets or things you all always take on cruises, the best money saving tips, etc. I know there were lots of good ones on CC that I was planning to check out later, but alas . . . **Anyway, are there any threads of that sort, from CC that you recommend? Thanks, and sorry for the confusion, although those looked like some good links too. Kim
