?? Transportation in the Bahamas

I have been looking online and it seems that at Freeport and Nassau there isn't much near the cruise pier. What has everyone else done? There are 7 of us, and cab fare sounds expensive for 7. We are planning on booking our excursions on our own, but most of those don't provide pick-up/drop off. This sounds like it will get expensive quickly. Help!!!!!

In Nassau, the typical mode of transportation is the Jitney.. It runs from downtown to Cable Beach and Back again.. the #10 is the one to ride, and it's $1.25pp. It does NOT go to Paradise Island/Atlantis.. you can get their by water taxi ($4) or cab ($4).

No need to rent a vehicle (doubt you'd find one that fits 7).. they are expensive and there is no parking.. anywhere..

And when you catch that cab good luck ;) hehe They drive wild and the vehicles are old nissan vans that could drop the trans at any second!! But I do have to say that is prob our most told story of the trip!! Take a ride on the wild side ;)

I am looking to go to Atlantis. Previously mentioned that fare is only $4.00. I can not ride for long periods, can you tell me how long the ride is. Also, is this the going rate or will I need to ask price before taking the cap?
