Both were cancelled on the 1/5/13 sailing of The Dream. We got Nassau instead.

I too was on that cruise. In fact my husband is a big ND guy....we won't talk about that game, but he had fun regardless of the outcome.

After the first Sea Day we looked at each other over our drinks and said WHY have we waited so long to do this? I would LOVE to go sooner, but we're booking a cruise in June 2014 with friends to celebrate our kids graduating high school.....cannot wait!

Did he watch the game outside on the big screen? I was the guy constantly in ND clothes leading a "Let's Go Irish" on the Lido right before the game. lol Yes, it sucked but I licked my wounds in warm weather. ;)

Which Ecstasy itinerary did you book? There are 3.

You may be a sun worshiper, but check out the Segway tours in Nassau!

My itinerary is Nassau, Freeport and HMC. Like I said, I don't care this time where we go, as long as it's warm.

Segway tours where?

He was. He was in the middle of the lido deck. He was wearing a #3 ND jersey....

We were re-routed a few cruises ago due to a hurricane and ended up in Nassau. We had to wing it and ended up having a great day.

We found a desk right in the port building that had snorkel tours. Made a group of six with 4 other people that were standing in line and talked them into a group rate of $25 a person for 3 hours of snorkeling. It was amazing!

Then we ended up making friends with 2 others in our group and they had heard of the "fish fry" area. Take a right out of the port area and walk along the water front to Junkanoo beach. It is a public beach about 10 minutes from the ships. There were stands renting hammocks, chairs, umbrellas and selling food and drinks, but we did not stop. Past that was our target: Fish Fry. This is a group of restaurants that have amazing local food. We went to Oh Andros. I have also heard that Goldies Conch House is good also. Great local food and beer and very cheap!

Big tall blond guy? He and I noticed each other a couple of times on the cruise. lol Both wearing our team clothes. I was sitting between 2 Bama fans and couldn't take their gloating anymore so I watched the second half at the casino bar. Still a good cruise though.

The last negative I'll mention is "The Smell". It is definitely there! I smelled it more than a few times all over the ship. Like sewage. It wasn't strong and it was fleeting. Did not affect my cruise at all except for in the Piano Bar. More than once I sat directly in front of the piano and smelled it terribly and it stuck around for a while. It got to the point where I was afraid others may have thought it was me!

LOL. I have smelled this on my previous cruises. I'm not sure if it is coming from the bowels of the ship or if we are being crop-dusted by passengers....

Thanks for your review, sounds like you had a good time.

Any cruise seems like a good time. The 5 day'er I'm taking in March is going to be a sun and beach cruise. No excursions, no fancy rooms, no souvenirs, just relax, get burnt and drink some! :)

Segway tours where?

Tours are in Nassau. One does a city tour. I went to the one that didn't involve the city, it was on undeveloped land. A van took us there, got lesson on a segway use, and off we went thru trails. Had a rest stop in a very nice area and some went into the sandy shallow waters. Then continues various trails back to our van. It was far more fun than I ever anticipated. (And we were seniors). Look on the internet for Nassau segway tours. We booked to get a reservation and time of choice (they go 2 times a day), and groups are limited. I think there's a booth for info on the left when you go into the Nassau entry building.

Thanks for the info but I think the girlfriend wants nothing but beach, sand and relaxing this cruise. Might be something we'll be interested in on the next cruise. I've been on a Segway and it is fun. Just hope it's warm in Nassau the first week of March!

What about this smell? Can't Carnival do anything? I'm on the DREAM in March and not looking forward to any bad smells

It's pretty faint and fades quickly most of the time. I also had bouts with smelling body odor a couple of times too but with that is to be expected I guess with that many people in such close quarters.

Yea, I was pretty upset for about an hour and then got back into "cruise mode" lol. Have to remind myself it's just a game. Tell your hubby there's a good website for ND football that I enjoy called Domerdomain then dot com. Lots of ND info and chat. Tell him next year is our year! :)

The ship was just as clean as the newer Freedom.

Some negatives, biggest negative was "Any Time Dining" should be called "Carnival's Time Dining". We had a wait every time! Second night was 45 minutes! Never again!

The last negative I'll mention is "The Smell". It is definitely there! I smelled it more than a few times all over the ship.

Actually, the Dream, first sail in 2009, is newer than the Freedom of the Seas, first sail in 2006, by several years.

I am shocked at the wait for Anytime Dinning. We have never had to wait. You must of had a lot of people requesting Anytime on your cruise. 45 minutes would suck.

We have been on the Dream twice and have not noticed "the Smell" . We must have been fortunate because I am reading of a lot of people smelling it. We did notice it on the Destiny and it was raunchy.

So glad you had a good cruise. We almost selected the Ecstasy for our March cruise but decided on the Paradise instead. We prefer Cozumel to Nassau. Hope you enjoy the Ecstasy.:D

I did not know that the Freedom was an older ship. I have no idea why I assumed it was newer. Thank you for the correction.

I also prefer Coz to Nassau but couldn't beat the price. I am looking very forward to experiencing the Ecstacy. Very cool to experience different ships. :)

The only reason I knew FOS was older is that we have an Aunt Barbara that is a TA and she went on the FOS when it was first built and we went on the Dream it's first year and Barbara was on FOS way before we went on the Dream.

I agree about experiencing different ships. Wish Carnival or Royal or NCL would take the best from all their ships and leave out the worst and build a fantastic ship.
