Need some help from my New Orleans friends,

We have cruised several times from N.O. but are thinking about coming on the train this time. We will be coming back on Feb. 10th, was wonderng about how far the train station is from the cruise terminal? The train will be leaving about 1 or 2 P.M. If we take a taxi back to the terminal, are there places to eat close by? Is it in a fairly safe area, we don't want to venture to far from the train station once we get there. THANKS for any help.

The train station is about a 10 minute taxi ride from the cruise terminal. However, Feb. 10 is the Sunday before Mardi Gras. There will be several pardes starting at 11:00 AM and ending late into the night. Not sure how this will affect your plans but may be something to think about.

The parades start uptown and won't reach the CBD until early afternoon. Cab drivers know how to get around whatever crowds may be there.

 

There is a snack bar at the train station, but nothing else close by.
