Cheers program

I'm looking forward to it. Will stop in more bars and try differen cocktails all over the ship. I need to start a list of everything I want to try.

I totally agree with you. I have even saved the link below to help remember some of the new drinks I want to try. I might not break even with the Cheers package but it is nice to know that I won't be rudely surprised at the end of the cruise either.

We did the Cheers on the Dream-overall liked it, but we did get cut off at 15...no option to even purchase until 6am the next morning. However, they did allow us to "share". My husband hit 15 a couple times and I still had a few left so the bartenders told us to just use my card to get his drink. Again, this is obviously ship specific. While I don't think it should be that way (just make it standard one way or the other!!) I would recommend getting exact details from someone in charge once on board before you purchase. There was a guy on the Magic (I think...not sure) that found someone in charge and asked specific questions and video taped him on his phone. That way if he were to run into issues later in the week, he had proof that he was told the rules were _______. That may be extreme....but it worked!!

For the record....I do not drink 15 drinks a day in my regular life. Nor do I sit by the pool all day, eat endlessly, and visit wonderful locations....lighten up, it's vacation. I guess it makes me a part-time alcoholic.....

Judge much??? Your post adds nothing to the discussion. This is the problem with CC. People see a topic they clearly have nothing of substance to contribute but nonetheless feel the need to insert their opinion anyway.

I had to laugh at your response! LOL!!! Our motto is "can't drink all day if you don't start in the mornin'! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Ok well I better sign myself up for a meeting because I'm seriously purchasing cheers for me and my husband but my husband doesn't drink but I will get my money's worth...all I have to do is drink 8 drinks to basically cover the cost of the entire package...and he will drink some sodas to make it seems like I'm less of an alcholic....but to me it's worth it....but to each their own

you do not need to get 15 drinks in order to make it a good deal, the math has already been done, 6 drinks across the day and you are saving money,

bloody mary or mamossa in the morning

a frozen drink at bingo or trivia

a frozen drink by the pool

a beer or two with lunch

a pre dinner cocktail

take a drink into the dinning room for dinner

a beer or two at the evening show

looks like a deal to me and not enough to get drunk by any means.

Some of the posts on this thread absolutely crack me up. You American buddies are seriously funny.

Now, can anyone help me? I am from North East England and will be sailing with Carnival for the first time in August. I do not drink much alcohol, probably only 2 or 3 per day at most but my husband likes his beer and especially whilst on holiday so I figured it would make sense to buy the cheers program because if nothing else, at least it gives us peace of mind as to how much we are spending. Now, I am not familiar with some American terms even though I've been to America (Orlando and New York both of which were absolutely fantastic by the way) so, can someone explain what a mamossa is and a Bloody Mary? If they contain alcohol, is it traditional to have them at breakfast in the US? I've never heard of it. Also, what is a frozen drink? Is it what we call slush in England I.e., alcohol, juice and crushed ice mixed together?

Can't wait for August. I hope there are lots of American travellers on our cruise because American people truly are the nicest I have ever met.

Bloody Mary...is vodka and tomato juice....mimosas is champagne and orange juice....a frozen drink is kind of like a smoothie with different juices and alcohol...kind of like a starbucks....

Thanks for explaining. People drink champagne and vodka at breakfast time seriously? Wow, I cannot imagine doing that!! In England, we call champagne and orange juice a Buck's Fizz.

LOL! OMG you crack me up (make me laugh!) Do Americans drink cocktails in the morning?? Does a bear sh*t in the woods? Welcome to America...land of the free, home of the brave. Come join us and get your morning buzz on!

Frozen cocktails are rum drinks and daquiris like Pina Coladas, Rum Runners, Miami Vice, Mudslide, etc. Pina Colada is pineapple juice, coconut juice, rum, ice and put into a blender. Bloody Mary is vodka, tomato juice, horseradish, celery salt, pepper, tobasco (hot sauce), served over ice with a celery stalk and sometimes with skewered olives. Very yummy in the morning. A Bloody Maria is the same but with tequila. Speaking of tequila, my favorite drink is a Margarita which you can get on the rocks or frozen.

BTW my stepdad is from England and sometimes he uses the funniest words and we have no clue of what he is saying! LOL!

I really wish Carnival would iron out off these discrepancies and stick to a uniform program for every ship. We are interested in purchasing Cheers for our cruise but would like to know exactly what we are buying. It seems that some ships don't cut you off at all, others are firm at the 15 drink limit but let you purchase more at regular price, some dont let you purchase after the 15 drink point, some count soda towards the limit, some don't...

I totally agree about the consistency of the program. I've read many different things over the past few months. We still plan on giving the program a try on our October cruise, but while I don't see us drinking 15 drinks each per day (well, maybe on a sea day :p) if the cruiser is willing to pay full price after exceeding that number, I don't understand why they won't just let you pay because really, if a person is clearly wasted they should be cut off whether they participate in the program or not.

Yep, and thank you! I can report somewhat on our experience on the Glory. We never hit the limit, but we did enjoy the program. All of our drinks at the Alchemy were included (and AMAZING). That was the highlight. My fiancé was injured the first day of the cruise and spent the following 4 days in bed. No fault of carnivals, but a few times I took his card to buy him a coke they gave me a hard time. They wanted to see his face, whether it was 10am or 10pm, to be sure he wasn't intoxicated. They can see clearly how many drinks you have had. Don't count on being able to take your cruise mates card to get anything, including soda. The days he was sick I would go out of the cabin for a bit and grab a beer and lunch. I didn't try but for sure getting him alcohol would have been out of the question.

Had my fiancé been well the whole cruise we would have made great use of the program, however in our case we lost about $500. I can say that we did make it up in the casino the last night. They're a bit less strict there because they do keep tabs on the people at the tables, and we had a great time playing high rollers with the money we hadn't spent throughout the week. :)

Didn't work either, oh well. That's OK I've been reading about it! One thing I would love to know is whether they carry over the program to HMC. Some people say yes and others say no. So what is it??

I was on HMC off of Victory four days ago. We had Cheers but it DID NOT work on HMC. We were charged full price for the drinks we ordered there. Didn't try to get a soda so I can't tell you about whether or not they charge for that...

Thanks so much for the info! So do you think it was worth it then, with three days in port your not using the Cheers. Do you think it would cost the same or less if you bought them separate?
