iamsteph Posted February 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Will be in port on March. Looking into Jetty Park or Cocoa Beach. Reading the boards, I'm getting a sense that walking to these places isn't possible, but that the shuttle stop is pretty far away too? So is it easiest to just take a taxi? We will be stopping in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach on the Pride in April and were interested to know the exact same thing. Hopefully someone with some knowledge of this will be able to help us. Also does anyone know the approx. cost.
CruisinDawn Posted March 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2013 Well I can tell you from our hotel at the Holiday Inn Express on Atlantic which is right next to the CocoaBeach Pier we paid $5pp for a shuttle through Cocoa Beach Shuttle (CBshuttle.com). We always use them from the airport to the hotel, hotel to port and port back to airport. Mention Cruise Critic and get a 10% discount. A taxi can't be much, your talking max 2 miles to the Jetty Park area? BonVoyage Dawna
morganboys Posted March 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2013 you could use cocoa beach shuttle. when you get off the ship there should be many taxis. I can't recall the name of the taxi service that we used but they are yellow. they are the largest taxi group in the area. they were recommended by the folks at the country inn & suites. they had their business cards in several places in the hotel. might try calling the country inn & suites and ask. maybe they will give you some info. As for jetty park it is pretty nice. we go there and watch the ships sail the night before our cruises. you can walk out on the pier and watch the people fish. there is a small little shop where you can buy pop & snacks. the beach is pretty nice as well. mfeenker Posted March 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2013 Jetty Park is a nice park to visit, however it would require a taxi ride to and from the park entrance and you would then need to walk the two + blocks to the beach - not sure if there is an entrance fee for walkers but there is for vehicles. I would suggest using the free shuttle provided to transport to and from downtown Cocoa Beach where you will discover a great beach as well. Sumo64c Posted March 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2013 As earlier covered in the thread, yes you can get a taxi to jetty park...2 miles if that and the beach there is nice...some good eating in the Port with Grills / Fish Lips..etc. If you go to Cocoa Beach, the pier area has nice beaches and plenty of places to get a bite to eat there as well. Have fun!
bballmom21 Posted March 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2013 When we docked, we just grabbed a cab ($5pp) and they dropped us off at cocoa beach. they had a taxi drop off and pick up near Ron Jon's and we walked across the street to the beach where there was a bath house, store, and a chair and umbrella rental right on the beach. Great day on the beach with the grandchildren. Just tell the taxi driver what you want.
