Is Houston the best airport to fly into for Galveston Departures?

IAH is approximately 70 miles.

As others stated, these are the two airports that serve Galveston. Houston is a large enough city to support two airports. Houston Hobby (HOU) is the closest to Galveston and Southwest has a large presence there. Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is farther away from Galveston but is a much larger international airport and is a hub airport for United Airlines. Transfer costs will be higher from IAH than HOU so be sure to include that in your calculations of which airline/airport will be better for you to fly into.

Thanks! I've never cruised out of Galveston before so its going to be new all around to me. But its the same distance from VA as FL is. But the cost (at least what I can see for nov. 2013) is going to be about $150 more.

Thanks for the info. We are flying into IAH next week for our cruise. I think maybe the Princess shuttle is the best answer for us.
