jhakanson Posted June 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2005 We are sailing in September on the Eastern Caribbean version with a 4 and 7 year old. Anyone traveled recently on HAL or Zuiderdam with kids? Just wondering how the Club HAL upgrades are and the kids' programs. We have sailed on Carnival before and we all enjoyed it but are looking forward to a little more laid back atmosphere on HAL Please lend your comments. Thanks. HAL92 Posted June 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2005 HAL ships are not made for children IMO. The Zuiderdam, though, probably has the best kids' program of all the HAL ships. Club HAL is still not as large as other lines' programs, but your kids should enjoy it. I don't think that club HAL permits kids under 5 to attend club HAL. meme2 Posted June 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2005 We were on Zuiderdam 5/21-28, Western Car. with 5 and 10 yr old granddaughters. I have never seen such excitement about when they get to go to Club HAL. On sea days, they were at Club HAL 9 - 12, 2 - 5 and 8 to 10. They loved every minute of it. One drawback is that the Club HAL room was being renovated and they met in various room, altho base seemed to be Hudson Room. Therefore, you could not be certain where the group might be during a certain time, even though program you get every nite on next day's activities states where and when. This got some parents perturbed. The counselors were great and the kids really enjoyed getting to know one another. Overall, a really good experience. This was first cruise for grand parents and granddaughters, altho our daughter had been on short one before. Have a great time. Meme
