Sea Glass?

While at the beach by the Surfside Restaurant and Bar in Holetown, I found glass washing up in shore. It is not the sea glass as a result of lightening striking the sand, but bits of broke bottles and ? that have been tumbled and smoothed by the sand and sea. Barbados was the only beach out of the 5 that I was on last week to have any. Why is it there? There was nothing else other than pieces of coral and a few seashells washing up. I think I found a couple dozen pieces of kelly green, lime green, brown, aqua blue, and clear. Some pieces were smoother than others and some pieces were very recognizable as the mouth/neck or bottom of a beer bottle. I love my little collection but it is a mystery to me.
