carygirl Posted March 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Some of the tips we have might be Carnival Fantasy specific but we wanted to share them with the group, in case they may be useful for other families looking to cruise with a baby. Highlights 1. Walking around the ship with our son and his walker. The hallways work great for long stretches of crawling and walking. He had a blast doing this. On the last day we found a huge empty carpeted conference room on the 9th floor by the ladies room near Camp Carnival. 2. Playing on the fake grass with mommy and daddy. He could crawl, walk, and play without getting any dirt on him. The fake grass was nice and soft and padded. We’d drink daiquiris watching our son play. Wish they had this at the real parks! 3. Climbing the stairs. Ships have flights and flights of carpeted stairs. We wanted to teach our son how to safely go up and down stairs. We half-succeeded, he knows how to safely go up… At one time he went up 3 flights in a row. 4. Getting a small parent break. We’d drop our son off for an hour each day in the nursery. He was often the only one there and had 2 very attentive ladies watch him with a ton of toys to play with. They changed his diaper twice in an hour. That’s the best we’ve seen at any place. Babysitting times were 8-10 on sea days,8-12 on port days and 10PM-1AM. A few tips: 1. For Dinner ask the mater-de if you can order the next night’s meal a day in advance. We did this and had dinner waiting for our arrival every night 2. We couldn't hear a thing from our Balcony and had to shut the curtain to avoid sunshine during our son's naps. Might be worth bringing a baby monitor for the balcony. Any questions please ask away…
