Howl early can we drop our luggage in NY?

I'm leaving Sunday on the Jewel with my daughter and her friend. I know that there is a half marathon in the city and traffic will be a mess. My DH would like to get in and out of the city as early as possible? How early can we drop off our luggage? I'd like to get into the city early, drop our luggage, find someplace for breakfast and then return to the terminal around 11:00. I'm assuming that by 11 we can get inside the terminal.

Thanks,

Wendy

I tried to get some info for you. Found the route, but no starting time. I have cruised out of ny several times. The marathon, I think, is cutting across to the West Side south of the terminal. i am not sure though. Sorry.

Thanks. I've looked at the route map and it looks like our best bet is going over the George Washington Bridge and come down the Henry Hudson.. Two years ago DH got stuck with the marathon picking us up. That's why he wants to get rid of us as early as possible LOL.

You should be fine with this route. I did this on marathon day 2 years ago and had no problems.

We are also on that sailing... the race starts in Central Park at 7:30 but the street closings are scheduled to start earlier than than. It will close at times 42nd street over to West St south bound (below the port). Streets close to the park should start re-opening around 10am. West street north of the port is not impacted so if you are coming from the GWB, you will not have a issue. You will be able to drop your luggage off around 10am and yes you will be able to check in at 11 or even earlier. But also remember, the current cruise will still be debarking at that time so traffic around the pier will be crazy anyway.

I have attached the route map - it is a little blurry as I enlarged it...
