I'm confused on the cost of the walki g guide tour for romeinlimo vs the ones from the Vatican.

Romeinlimo limo for 3 ppl $180 euro

Vatican each $ 32 pp euro

It's half for being a smaller group.

Does Rome in limo for $180 even pick you up at the hotel?

Myself and two teenagers traveling and was quoted 600€ for a Rome in Limo day tour of Rome. Plus 150€ for Vatican guide. Am I too cheap? I quickly cancelled then they said I could add folks from our cruise and they'd knock off about 150€ I think it was.

So, now, since I've already been to Rome once, I thought I'd navigate train/metro myself, buy Vatican and combo Colosseum tickets online and do it on our own using public transportation.

Am I crazy? Has anyone else done this? Is it so expensive at Rome in Limo because of car/driver hire? They don't walk you inside anywhere do they?

Just wondering if I made the right decision.....

I am hoping this tour company question is ok to ask since I am requesting info and not recommending.

Romeinlimo is definitely worth the money. The tour guides are fantastic and will personalize the tour for you. It is far cheaper than a cruise tour and with a smaller group, you have the option to determine where you want to go and how long you want to stay. The more people you get on the tour, the less the cost per person. It is very easy to get people to join you on the Roll Calls.

A car or taxi from the port is very expensive as it is over an hour from Rome, so, all things considered, it isn't unreasonable. I was a little shell-shocked at first too because tours in Europe are much more expensive than the Caribbean. That being said, Romeinlimo is reputable and they do a very nice job. I haven't yet used them for Rome (we did one of their tours in Florence) but definitely will.

I know that some said that strikes are always announced in advance, and maybe that is true for the train from the port. However, we took the train to the Coliseum and then when we went to take it on the way back, the doors were closed and they said they were striking. We ended up walking back to our hotel in the rain. Can't complain though...getting caught in the rain in Rome isn't the worst thing in the world!
