Checkmate1955 Posted June 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2005 We are booking a cruise on NCL that will include a stop at Belize and Roatan... What can we expect from these ports and what do you recommend? Are there beaches nearby that we can just spend some time or do we need to book something... Thanks..:)
zimmerjulie Posted June 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I would recommend a tour in these two locales, as there doesn't seem to be a lot right around the port area, aside from a cute shopping area with some restaurants and bars in Belize City. In Belize, our group did the Jungle hike/Cave Tubing excursion and really liked it. In Roatan we went to Foster's West Bay resort. Absolutely beautiful beach with a great open air bar and restaurant. They also have tables and palapa shelters for those of us who like a little shade. Gorgeous. This is very near Tabanya beach, which the cruise line uses for it's beach day excursion, but was very uncrowded and the food was very good. We had a group, so the day rate was very reasonable, as most of the expense of these excursions seems to be in the gas/transportation to the site. tigerlilycruiser12 Posted June 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2005 The beach sounds really nice. Beautiful beach, shade when you want it and a place to get a nice cold drink. Paradise Wish I can go right now. :D
Darthtater Posted June 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2005 We did cave tubing in Belize w/Reggie, and it ended up that it cost half of what the cruise line was charging, and our guide just took the four of us. The cruise tour was packed with people. On our tour our guide took us to the Belize zoo for the heck of it after lunch. There was no extra charge. We had a blast!
