GrammyJill Posted June 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2005 Our tickets were purchased by FIL. He bought them for our family of 4. Our son turned 19 this year & has just decided he is going to Alaska to earn money on the boats up there  We won't even discuss his mother's perspective of this decision! (OMGosh, aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh) So we are due to sail July 28th. What should we do? Will Carnival let us take another person in his place? I was thinking maybe a niece. I know its too late for FIL to get a refund & I feel awful about it all but....... teenagers, can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em! Just kidding :p
ppeckham Posted June 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2005 You can substitute. If you have not received your documents, I believe the fee is $50. If you have received your documents, the fee is considerably more. I had checked into this two years ago when my son's grades were not as good as they should have been. If he didn't pull the grades up, someone else would go on the trip in his place.
Creole Girl Posted June 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2005 I had contacted them recently as well when I though my DH may not have been able to sail. They said that I could change the name for $50 as I had not yet reached the penalty phase for that. It was just last month that I called and I just received my docs yesterday. If you do it now you should make the cutoff.
GrammyJill Posted June 15, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted June 15, 2005 thanks! Of course he hasn't made his decision yet! I would rather he go on a cruise ship with me than a fishing ship in Alaska! Hopefully, we will know one way or another ASAP!
