Galveston questions

We'll be leaving on the Disney Magic next Friday April 12th. We have decided to make the drive into Galveston mid-day on Thursday. The wife and I found the Pleasure Pier to be something we could take our family to but we see that it is closed on Thursday and only open on the weekend.

 

So, we still have interest in eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp if we can get itno it, I figure it's still open and operational even if the theme park is closed? What other options are available to tide us over until Friday morning arrives??

 

BTW, we are staying at a hotel in Texas City, not but a few minutes away from Galveston so we are open to doing anything the city has to offer and is worth the time.

There are many things to do on the island: Moody Gardens, The Historic Strand, Texas Seaport Museum ,Tall Ship Elissa, Harbor tour, Bishop's Palace.
