wahooslayer Posted May 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2013 Travelling with DW and DD's (17,18) in early June. We're interested in a snorkeling trip, we want to see the prettiest and nicest coral reef GC has to offer. We're not really very interested in Stingray City, we'd rather see great reef. I'm an experienced free diver, my family are experienced snorkelers, we have a home in the Florida Keys and we dive there frequently. So, where are the BEST snorkeling reefs, is there an excursion that will take us there (not really dying to drop $600-$800 for a private snorkeling charter), or are we better off going on our own from the beach? TurtleTagger Posted May 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2013 The best coral and overall best snorkeling spots are located on the north shore of the island. You can book a private charter and ask to go to the barrier reef of boulder gardens around Rum Point, but that is costly. A few jet ski and a boat excursion or two stop at the Rum Point site, but I haven't a clue which ones The other spots are reachable by shore and not boat, so if you are game, renting a car is the other alternative. I usually direct serious snorkelers to Testudo's snorkel blog since I find it provides the best and most comprehensive snorkeling advice for Grand Cayman. http://snorkelblog.tumblr.com/
