Carnival Magic question about balconies rooms 9481 and 9477??

Recommended Posts

Has anyone stayed in rooms 9481 or 9477?? I'm trying to find out which room will have a bigger balcony out of the two. If you look at the deck plans it shows that room 9481 has slightly bigger balcony given the design of the ship. But as I've been reading it sounds like cabins on the corner of the ship like 9477 have bigger balconies. But this is not shown on the deck plan layout. Can anybody tell me anything about the balconies in this area?

Looking at the deck plan on Cruise Mate, I would say 9481 gives you the bigger balcony. Cabin 9477 is not the corner room; it is the end room of the aft balconies. The corner room is 9475, which is the aft wrap balcony. That one has a huge balcony that goes around the corner, giving you both side and back views. Of course, you will pay dearly for that view!

On the Magic, the back is rounded so 9481 balcony will be slightly larger. But beware that someone on Lido can look into your balcony and there is a noise factor from Lido.

Jut stayed in 9477 in April and its larger than the ones next too you. But you can hear them moving chairs early in the morning and late and night on the lido deck but people on the lido deck and not see into your balcony unless you are hanging over the rail.

Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention!!! I've been really trying to figure out about those two balconies.

I agree with "luving2cruise" that someone has to be right at the rail to see into your balcony and the noise factor. But I know from experience that 9481 has a slightly deeper balcony. The widths are the same. You can google pictures and confirm for yourself.

Have fun on your cruise. I will be back on Magic in July myself. :)

I tried looking for pictures it's really not as easy as I was thinking. Or at least on my cell phone it's kind of difficult. The thing is my whole family is going on a cruise in August. We have those 3 rooms right next to each other. (9477, 9479, 9481) I'm just trying to get the best cabin out of the three. Lol.

From your experience which cabin would you suggest? I'm not worried about noise or anything. It's the room in balcony that I want that I want top notch.

Then I would go with 9481. There's not a huge size difference but it is slightly bigger than the other 2. If you go to the link here, they have room pictures. There aren't any of the 3 rooms you listed but go to the next deck down and there are pictures of the room right below 9481. You can get a good idea from there.... http://********************/Site/decks.php?ship=Carnival%20Magic

I have not stayed in any of those rooms, so I can't be sure, but I think the Aft Wrap balcony rooms (the actual interior room size) is slightly smaller and the layout doesn't provide room for a couch. That may be a factor in your decision.

Edit: Misread the original post. You aren't looking at the aft-wrap, but simply the aft balconies. So this info doesn't necessarily apply ;)

I'm taking the July 21st cruise this time which does the Roatan, Belize, Cozumel route. But I have done the route you are taking a few times. In Cayman you must do stingray alley. Independent vendors are good and cheaper here. Do a search online. Try Reef and Rays, it's a well run excursion and you will still have time to walk the town close to the docks for shopping, ect....... Mo Bay cruise port is secluded. Everything is far away. It's an expensive cab ride into town. I like to use a Carnival excursion because of the distance and using Carnival they will not leave you if you are late returning. I prefer a jungle excursion here. There are some really good zip line and/or river excursions. The native Jamaican people can be a little pushy so watch yourself. ....... In Cozumel the beach is where to go. Mr Sancho's is a really good all-inclusive place. But there are several smaller more secluded places if that's what you prefer. Don't use the ship excursions in Cozumel. Go to the gate where the taxi guys are located. They will cut you a better deal and even stay with you all day as a personal escort.

If you need anything more specific or have questions just let me know. I will help as much as I can. :D

If you do it in Jamaice, yes. Only because the ship will not leave you if you are late returning. The place they use is excellent and have very good guides. But it is far from the cruise terminal on an old plantation. So if there's a delay or vehicle breakdown, Carnival is responsible. You can get the same place cheaper going independent but it comes with risk.

Few questions.. Now I understand ziplining with carnival is the safest way to go so you don't get left behind. But how many different ziplining locations are there in Jamaica? I just wanna go on the highest more craziest ziplining Jamaica have to offer. Lol. I fear that wouldn't be with the excursion through Carnival... or is it??

Also what's the weight limit? Would you happen to know that by any chance? Cost?

If you look at cruise line rooms dot com - and bring up the deck plan for magic - there is a star on the aft facing balconies. It states that the balconies in rooms 9474 and 9477 (balconies next to wraps) are 1/3 larger than those in between. We were on conquest and freedom and stayed in the balcony next to wrap and believe me, it is considerably larger - you will love it.

Wait... I'm confused. If you look at the deck plan your talking about the stars are not the rooms next to the wrap balconies.

Is that your experience from in person or just what you see by looking at the deck plans?

On the Magic for deck 8 and 9...the aft ext right next to the aft wraps are about 1/3 larger. I had the one on deck 8 next to the wrap (I think it was 8468). It is larger than the other aft ext balconies. It was very nice. They go fast so grab it while you can.

Go to http://www.carnival.com/Activities/Excursion/423022 and it will show you reviews of the more popular zip line tour from Mo Bay. Carnival offers 2 different zip line tours in Mo Bay and this one is much better than the other. I'm not sure how many there are total in Jamaica. Other locations may be offered if porting in different locations. This one has a 4.8/5 star review. The weight limit is 260 per the excursion page. Also keep in mind that you will be up in the trees on scaffolds built like tree houses. You are tied off but you do have to duck under limbs and walk on a 2' wide area at times. It's a real thrill!!
