I have just returned from a trip, and was deciding on the same two options.

After eading on here and getting some great advice, we decided on the Gold Creek salmon bake as it fitted best with our plans and was also more "real"

Having said all that, if I were to go again, I would leave out the salmpn bake altogether, and rather go to a restaurant for good salmon.

As a first timer, as I was, I wanted to experience a salmon bake, but I would not do it again.

If you are spending any time in Seattle pre/post cruise, you might also consider Tillicum Village: http://www.tillicumvillage.com/

Personally, I love the Kiwanis Salmon BBQ at Issaquah Salmon Days the first weekend in October in Issaquah, WA. I don't even like fish much, but I eat this every year! I don't bother with other salmon bakes because I know they won't be as good. Unfortunately, it's too late in the year for any cruisers to take advantage.

Thanks for this link - we'll be in Seattle for a few days and we also decided to skip the AK Salmon Bakes, even though I was hoping for one. This might be a great alternative!
