Majesty Italian Flavours 24th May

Recommended Posts

We were on the Majesty 24th-31st May.

We have been on the Spirit and Dream and my wife has been on the Destiny also. We enjoyed the previous cruises and the ships.

We had a very prompt arrival at the ship quickly booked in photos taken we were on board within 1.5 hours after landing.

We had an outside plus on deck 7. The cabin was very nice and a decent size but a lot smaller than the Dream. The condition on board seemed to be very good and clean. The AI package is now called DP (Drinks Package) if they reduce the selection much more they will be done under the trades description:mad:

First the positives. Food was very good, we used the 4 seasons mainly for breakfast and dinner where the choice was very good.

There were queues at times but they moved on quickly. Service in the restaurants was very good. The staff here were very friendly as they were all over the ship. We used the bar at the side of the casino mainly I think it was called the Polo lounge.

While I am on service I have to say this was superb in every bar in the ship or on sun deck. It was noticeable how much better it was than the Dream where we struggled to get served on any part of the ship. The Spirit which apparently is the sister ship to the Majesty also had very good service. Must be something to do with being run by Louis. Says something about Thomsons management.

The staff seemed to be a lot of Ukrainians who were so friendly and all the waiting staff went of their way to help. This was an area we concerned about after last year but whether they were Ukraine Indonesian or whatever they were all superb.

The not so positives, the outside space is poor to say the least the sun deck is very cramped and the promenade deck is not much better.

The shows are nothing like the Spirit or Dream. There were some very talented people but it wasn't the same. The show lounge just doesn't have the impact it seems to be a place where some people just go to sit and talk while the shows are on. Very rude.

The buffet area is a joke. It probably sits around a 100 at most, hence the Royal Observatory is always packed with diners. We only ever used this for a quick snack at night.

The itinerary was as expected as we had done most before but Sicily is a non entity as far as I am concerned it must be a cheap port of call.

The trip to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast was well worth it.

Would I cruise on her again?. Probably but Thomsons would have a winner if they had the Majesty staff on the Dream.

Staff 10/10

Food 8/10

Cabin 8/10 this was an outside plus

Entertainment 6/10

Ship 6/10

If you go with a positive outlook you will enjoy the staff more than make up for what the ship lacks.

Any questions please ask.

Thank you for that balanced and honest review. I have been on Majesty 3 times and agree with all you have said.

We always ate in 4 Seasons after trying out the buffet and 7 Seas. We just preferred 4 Seasons but lots of people preferred the buffet and on my last cruise the long queues were at 7 Seas whereas on the 2 previous ones they were at 4 Seasons. I think it is good that there are different restaurants for people to choose from as well as the Bistro where there is a £19.00 each charge. We have only had one meal there, not because we thought it not worth the extra cost, but because the food and service in 4 Seasons was more than adequate for our needs.

I agree with you about the staff. We had fantastic service from most staff and it does make a difference to how much you enjoy your holiday. A beaming smile also makes such a difference. :)

The outside spaces are however lacking and that was most noticeable in hot September compared with warm/cold March and April in the Canaries where there was less pressure for sun beds. Hopefully, during the hot summer months people will not be saving sun beds with towels for hours and not using them.
