kmdivy215 Posted June 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2013 What time does the straw market and other places open/close? I want to check out a few of the stores, (Harley Davidson shop for one) but we are planning on doing Atlantis, too. If stores open early should we do that first and then Atlantis or, do Atlantis and stores afterwards? We will be in Nassau Sept 5th and Freeport the next day for a very short time, just till 2:00pm Hints and tips on what shopping places not to miss in both ports would be much appreciated! Thanks all, p.s. this is a girls trip, and we are by no means fancy, like to go with the flow and have a nice time.

Not sure what u mean by "do Atlantis". If you are getting a day pass, then remember the park opens at 10am and closes around 5/6 in September. You would have to go early to get a chair in a good spot, as it gets' very crowded after 10. If you are just going over to see it.. there's not much you can see for free as you can no longer wander around the lobbies without security asking you to leave. You can go to the casino and shop in the old towers or Marina village, but nothing else. Shopping is located just outside the port gates along the wharf and on Bay Street. Lots of jewelry, perfume, trinkets and such.
kmdivy215 Posted June 19, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted June 19, 2013 We were thinking about going to Atlantis on our own and getting a day pass for the pools, beach etc. I know from what I read it is around $130. Maybe if we plan it right, we will try and get to Atlantis by 9, stay til 3:00-4:00 hopefully make it back to check a few places, walk around etc. etc. The Pride is only docked til 8pm. The next day we will be in Freeport, but just till 2pm. Any suggestions on places to see in that short of time?

Pools and slides don't open until 10am and the only beach you can use with a pass is the main beach. Passes are available at the front desk, but the number is restricted based on occupancy and other factors. They sell out quickly. You might consider purchasing thru www.majestictoursbahamas.com They carry advance purchase tickets. They don't advertise on their website, but they do carry them. If you want to guarantee that you'll get a pass.. purchasing in advance is advised. Getting back to Nassau, watch your time. The 10-12 minute trip back across the bridge can take the better part of an hour during rush hour, which starts about 4:20pm .
