Carnival Glory Entertainment

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum business (sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot!). I was on one other Carnival cruise to Freeport, Nassau, and Key West on the Ecstasy. I'm going to be going on the Glory to Canada/New England. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this cruise and what the entertainment was like. Should I expect pretty much the exact same types of shows as I saw on the Ecstasy?

We just got back from Canada on the Glory. We didn't go to much of the showtime type entertainment because it seemed just okay. I'd definitely say it's probably about par with what you've already experienced - so if you liked that, then you'll probably like these shows. I have to say that as I've gone on more cruises, I go to fewer shows but when I first started crusing, I enjoyed them. I guess I like to have live instruments as part of a show & not so much singing to prerecorded tracks so that's one reason I'm not too keen on it.

Also the Glory had a "Motown" show. I'm originally from Detroit. I grew up on Motown. Some of the songs they sang were not Motown. & I don't really know how to say this but if you're gonna do Motown then you probably need to have singers that are folks you could actually imagine singing this type of music - no offense to the European singers, etc but while I am sure they are talented singers, they couldn't do Motown. That particular show fell flat as far as I was concerned.

I will say that the Glory did have some good comedy shows though. We went to a lot of them - both family oriented & adult only & enjoyed the comedians. They actually had two comedians earlier in the cruise & then swapped them out in one of the ports for two different ones so cudos to Carnival for that.

The piano bar & smaller music venues continue to be good - I guess because they have real instruments.

The Glory is a big ship, I think you'll find things to do. A big surprise I did not expect - was that the pools were heated so therefore no matter how cold the weather was outside, you could still swim. The back adults only pool had the roof on & it was tropical in there. The main pool in the middle stayed full of kids & teens so the weather didn't keep them out either.

Enjoy your cruise.

I dont know what show they will get rid of on a shorter cruise-- but on a 7 day cruise the glory has 3 shows.

Motor City, Latin Nights and Divas.

there is also a comedy club that features family comedy and the adult comedy. LOVED the family comedy-- same stuff without all the cursing.

Piano bar. Different lounges have different music. you have the casino.

The glory will be a different experience compared to the Ecstacy. - which is one of the smaller, older ships.

Glory has the outdoor movie theater.- guys burgers, Pissa Pirate, Iguana Bar, etc. e

I can echo all of the above from two years ago on a Glory 5 day. Did not keep us from going on four day in August same port we visited. We just want to get away on long weekend and kind find almost anything to do even without going to the main show.

FWIW

Just got off the Glory last week (Boston to Canada) 7 night.

The main shows were:

Welcome Aboard

Motown

Divas

Latin Nights

Hasbro the Game Show

The Newlywed Game

I saw Divas and Hasbro, DH also went to Motown by himself. DH got on state for Hasbro, and while his team lost, we still got a prize (handheld Simon Says).

There are also comedy shows nearly every night (family and R rated).

They were also playing fairly decent movies on the screen at night, and had blankets and popcorn.

Also look for "in the bag" in funtimes. Basically you bring a bag and pack some stuff from your stateroom.... you do it in teams and the staff will call out various items and the first three teams to bring it to staff get points, and then the top three teams win a prize. This was a lot of fun. Think: tv remote, toilet paper, cards, etc...

I was disapointed they didn't have any dance lessons on this cruise... last year I took a MJ Thriller dance class and it was sooo fun.

The cruise director on this ship was great! You will have fun! (Just pack a jacket, Canada is still cold).

Just got back for 4 nighter Canada cruise. We had a couple of different dance classes (ballroom and one other). They did Hasbro the game show twice. I really liked the Motor City show ( so did my DH, and he hates musical shows of any type). I hated Latin Nights. They did the marriage show as well, which was hysterical!

Did they also have Legends or was the theater dark 1 eve?

Another item: on our Canada cruise on the Glory, the "deck party" was held indoors - in the dance club. I'm not sure If that happens with all the cruises, or if we had unusually cool weather (we cruised July 26). Anyhow, to us, it just didn't feel the same. I'm not even sure if there was a buffet late on the "deck party" night. Don't think so.
