Casey2 Posted June 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2005 We went to Halifax and St John on Carnival 2 years ago. In Halifax we took the Peggy's Cove Excursion. It was about a 30 minute bus ride out to Peggy's Cove which is a quaint fishing village. There wasn't much to do but it was a beautiful day and we enjoyed walking around the rocks overlocking the water There is a lighthouse which has been converted to a post office. The restaurants and souviner shops were crowded as there were many buses there. The guide was good, giving us a historical perspective of Halifax and pointing out the sites along the way. When we got back to the dock, we walked along the waterfront and there was alot going on- jugglers, mines etc. There is also a crystal shop where you can watch them blowing the glass. In St. John, we took the Moosehead Brewery and best of St Johns excursion which included the Bay of Funday. I would skip the brewery and just take the tour of the town if that's what you're interested in. Host Caroline Posted June 25, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2005 IMHO the jet boats in St John up the falls are great... and in Halifax you don't have to take an excursion if you just want to spend the day at the Fortress, along the harborfront (Maritime Museum, great restaurants, harbor cruises)... you should check at www.halifaxinfo.com and see if Bluenose II is there on your port call day and book that ahead... Unless you just want to go to Peggy's Cove..
